Rochester Chapter Newsletter - December 15, 2024 | |
Message from the President:
Thanksgiving has come and gone, and I hope everyone had a blessed time with family and friends.
I am thankful for the Holiday Party committee of Lori Jachimczak, Taylor Jachimczak, Cherrie Main, Betty Tudisco, Nancy Schlinger, Patty Pitts, Tara Conrad and Ellie Conrad for the amazing job they did. We had 82 women attend this festive event. The camaraderie, the food, the staff, the putting contest, and the abundant raffle prizes were fabulous. But best of all was seeing the outpouring of gifts that were placed under the tree collected for the Pirate Toy Fund. I am thankful for all who attended.
I was remiss during my holiday announcement to thank Sheree Usiatynski for all her help on Golf Genius and for getting up to speed so quickly to make this all possible.
The free event at X-Golf Simulators was successful and I hope those who participated or had already checked it out on their own are considering joining the new winter league starting on Thursday January 9. Details are on Golf Genius.
The countdown of the holidays is upon us, and I hope by the time your celebrations take place you are all able to settle down and can be present in the moment to enjoy your time with loved ones.
For those of us staying behind to deal with the snow, be sure to sign up for the Radio Social event on January 23rd and keep an eye out for our Pop-Up Happy Hours and social events. Save the Date for the Kick Off Luncheon at Monroe Country Club on March 15th and the Rochester Golf Expo at Tim Horton’s Ice Plex on March 22-23rd. More to come.
The board is working hard on the League programs, Clinics, Social Events and golf events that I am very excited for the 2025 season and year ahead.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Linda Opalisky brings over 30 years of professional teaching experience to Webster Golf Club. Through the years, Linda played on the Futures mini tour, taught in golf schools in Florida and New York and has attended numerous PGA and LPGA seminars thus keeping abreast of innovations on the instructional side of the game. She has created programs to promote her personal philosophy that golf is a game for a lifetime and should be fun to both learn and play. As a result of her success and dedication, she has been selected to the PGA President’s Council for Growing the Game through Player Development Programs every year beginning in 2004 to the present.
Linda emphasizes alignment, routines, and the short game because those parts of the game don’t know or care if you are young or old, strong or weak, male or female. All are crucial to lowering your score. Understanding the four basic positions of the follow‐ thru is important too, because when standing still anyone can be as good as a tour player. Linda often uses ‘on course’ instruction because just hitting balls is not at all like playing the game.
