Liz reviews: Forks Over Knives, The Cookbook by Del Sroufe
Is it time for a smoothie? Have you promised yourself to eat better this summer? Do you want to see more greens and beans on to your plate but don’t know how to prepare them? Good news! Now you can learn how to do both by downloading this cookbook for free.
Forks Over Knives is written by Chef Del Sroufe and delivers all kinds of useful information to get you jump started on eating and cooking whole-plant foods. I liked the healthy food shopping list (that’s what I called it), also known as the “Basic Pantry” list. There is a wide selection of recipes, 300 to be exact.
Best of all and most useful to me were the tips and strategies on food preparation. How DO you use tofu? What are flax seeds and what is a healthy substitute for cheese sauce? The Mean Green Smoothie and the Very Berry Smoothie started me off. I soon explored making a brown sauce for stir fried vegetables. It’s made with molasses, ginger, garlic and other yummy ingredients.
Explore some summer cooking, have fun, and get healthy! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to start learning HOW, not wondering IF.
