From The Pastor

Avoiding NSF: What do you say to yourself when you are low in money? Here's hope and directions for

us: What does scripture tell us? Check out these verses:

? "Let's cut the budget?" Vs. Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

? "I don't have any to give."  Vs. Deuteronomy 16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given you. Or Luke 3:11 He answers and said to them, He that has two coats, let him impart to him that has none; and he that has meat, let him do

? "Oh dear, their talking about money in church again." Vs. 1 Chronicles 29:9 Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the

LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

? "I thought was just a line in the movies." Vs. Acts 20:35 I have showed you all things, how that so laboring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

? "I want to give, but.." Vs. Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

? "The tithe is all God wants." Vs. Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." And) Luke 16:13-15 "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love

the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." 14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts.

What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight.

? "I want my cake and eat it too." Vs. Acts 8:20 Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!

? "My little gift won't make a difference." Vs. Mark 12:41-44 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple

treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all

gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on."

? "It's mine, all mine!" Vs. Revelation 3:17 You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

? "It's not my responsibility." Vs. 1 Peter 5:2-3 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being

examples to the flock.

? "It's not fun to talk about money, especially at church." Vs.  Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

? "I will see what is left over." Vs. Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops;

Which verse are you most drawn toward? We are entering the summer and need to catch up our finances before the summer is filled with vacations, camping and travels. We need everyone to help in this lean time. Please bring your extra-mile gifts this Sunday or mail them in this week. Thanks for your generosity.

Promotion Sunday is June 7th!  If your child will be going into 6th grade this fall, they will be joining the youth group on Sunday, June 7th.  Rising 6th graders will go to Brandon's Sunday school class, and rising 9th graders will be going to Lebo's Sunday school class.  Don't worry; if they forget, we'll make sure they end up in the right place!

6th Grade Welcome Aboard Party is June 14th at 5:00pm at the Pavilion.  Come join us as we welcome the newest members of our youth group with games, pizza, and ice cream.  If you are willing to donate pizza or ice cream (homemade or store bought), please contact Brandon at (910) 545-6994.

Grow Day Camp / Vacation Bible School

This summer, from June 22nd to June 26th, we will be hosting a week-long Grow day camp run by Camp Glisson for rising 1st through 6th graders.  During the week of the Grow Day Camp, our Children's Ministry will be having a Vacation Bible School.  This will be a traditional VBS format, but it will only be for Pre-K and rising Kindergarteners.  This will allow our volunteers to focus on the younger students, while the older children participate in the Grow day camp. There will not be a charge to participate in Preschool VBS. The VBS will be held from 8:30 to noon each day, and the Grow Day Camp will run from 8:30 to 4:30.

Thank you for your continued support of the children's program. Please contact Jenni Neighbors at or (919) 491-6600 if you feel you can help in any of the major areas of VBS (teaching, music, crafts, games, snacks, or decorations).  For more information about Grow Day Camp, go to

I remain so thankful for, and humbled by, the quilt you made for me and prayed over.  It truly is the most touching gift! I was honored by your love, kindness, and prayer, and I cried as I watched online.  It's so touching to know that so many people are praying for me.  I cannot thank you enough for yur love and kindness! God Bless!
