Building Bridges of

Inclusion, Justice, and Spirituality

HOLY HILARITY SUNDAY

Join us for worship and share your best family-friendly joke!

Make us part of your chosen spiritual family

this Sunday at 10:15 AM

G.K. Chesterton once wrote:

“Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.

Never forget that the devil fell by force of gravity.

He who has the faith has the fun.”

Traditionally Hilarity Sunday falls on the Sunday after Easter. It was a celebration of life over death. The world said "No" to Jesus and killed him. God said "Yes" to Jesus and raised him. God had the last laugh. The cosmic joke was on us and for us. We enter into this spirit of joy by sharing jokes on February 18th at our 10:15 AM service. Bring your best family-friendly joke and be ready to share and laugh.

Two pickles fell out of a jar. What did one say to the other?

Dill with it!

We will share songs and jokes like this (hopefully better). Join us and make us your chosen spiritual family.

(The picture looks like our own Brett Morrison but it is supposed to be Jesus.)

No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey,

you are welcome here!

Realms of Caring was the name of the companion program for the parents whose children are participating in Spiritual Play and Sunday School. They have had such a good experience they are inspired to rename their group to Kindlings. They have a great story behind their new name. If you want to explore how to talk with your children or grandchildren about spirituality this program is for you. We are thankful to Laurie Folsom for hosting and leading this program. Plus, it serves some pretty good coffee in addition to some great conversation.

"Q and A" About the Work of Our Transition Team February 25th at 11:30 AM

The Transition Team will hold a Q&A session to update everyone on their work.

The scope of their work is to oversee the process of moving Shadow Rock UCC into an organizational model that is sustainable and adaptive, with the motivation that the preservation and promotion of our core values, vision, and mission are key to the survival and thriving of Shadow Rock.

The chair of the team is Marilyn Rampley. Feel free to contact her.

Our time together will be a presentation of our budget with the intention of adopting the budget. We look forward to your input and questions.

TIME TO COWBOY UP!

WE ARE RECRUITING FOR ART SHOW 2024!

Pictured above is an artist rendering of us making our way to the Shadow Rock art show last November 2023. It was a hoot with art, food, good company, and music to celebrate your 50th Anniversary. It was a great reprieve from Wishbone's beans and jerky.

This event required a lot of planning and teamwork. Rounding up artists and Shadow Rockers is like driving the herd to Kansas City. It's a lot of hard work but it is a party once we get there. The question is, "Do you want to do it again?" We are looking for people who some cow-sense about this and a range-boss to wrangle them.

If you want to be part of the art show rodeo, contact the church office. At this time, the church staff is gathering information and collecting names of interested persons.

We want to have our cow punchers signed up by March 31st.
