Rock the Week

This Week Around the Mountain

It's a great week at Shadow Rock! We're on the verge of many things: fall holidays, facilities work, new opportunities to connect and serve. On Sunday morning, you're invited to the whole package: 9:00 am Spiritual Formation (for adults and children), 10:15 am Worship, followed by Coffee Chat. Different experiences, different ways to connect.

Minister for Racial Justice Visits Germany

Rev. Dr. Velda Love is the UCC Minister for Racial Justice (and Karen's mentor and teacher in Sacred Conversations to End Racism). Dr. Love recently visited some Sacred Conversations participants in and around Berlin. Read more about this journey and get to know our German siblings a bit here.

The Southwest Conference is also active in anti-racism. Check out local resources here. For reading and study (and action!) recommendations, reach out to Karen

Fall Art from the Caterpillars

Our preschool friends WOW us some weeks with their art. These chalk and paint pumpkins from the Caterpillar class are really something!

As you're leaving Coffee Chat this week, take a stroll toward the "Penthouse" (the nickname for Lavender and Lime classrooms) to see these pumpkins in person. We're grateful for our preschool families and for the creativity of our preschool faculty.

Voting Coming Soon to the Campus

We really enjoy and appreciate being a polling location! All voters registered in Maricopa County can vote at Shadow Rock. People with a PEVL ballot can drop it off here. Polls are open:

Friday, October 28 - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Saturday, October 29 - 9:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Monday, October 31 through Saturday, November 5 - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

Monday, November 7 - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Election Day: Tuesday, November 8 - 6:00 am to 7:00 pm

Polls are closed on Sundays. If you vote during church office hours, stick your head in and say hi!

Congrats to the WISE Walkers!

We were grateful for the leadership of the WISE Team (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, Engaging) this past Sunday. Congratulations to the team for their 3rd place fundraising results with the Phoenix area event, NAMI Walks Your Way. Your work and your example combatting mental health stigma is appreciated.

Coffee Chat Details

After worship on October 23, we'll have a special Coffee Chat fellowship time to celebrate Shari and Ralph Radcliff. Shari and Ralph have been a beloved part of the Shadow Rock community for a long time. As they re-locate to be closer to family, we want to surround them with love!

Re-gathering for fellowship and a nibble after worship on Sundays has been a blessing to so many of us. It's just GOOD to be together! We've added 2023 dates to our Coffee Chat sign up - choose your date and make a plan. If you're new to hosting, no worries! Grab a staff member or just click reply to this email. We're glad to answer your questions.
