Rock the Week for April 27
~Your Weekly Dose of Shadow Rock News~
Ktizo Korner

It is a good thing to be in a partnership of compassion with one another! We're thankful for other partnerships as well. Ktizo UCC was recently the beneficiary of Indian Bend Elementary School's school-wide water bottle drive. Donations from Indian Bend families will help with Ktizo's Heat Relief and Hydration programs this coming summer.

There are two related volunteer opportunities:
  1. Volunteers will be transferring cases of water bottles from the school (3633 East Thunderbird Road) to Ktizo (3724 North 35th Avenue) on May 13 at 3:30 pm.
  2. The Heat Relief and Hydration program runs from the first week of June through the first week of September. Volunteers are invited to sign up now for summer service shifts.

If you can join us in service to our unhoused neighbors, please contact Becky Boston via email or text message at 602-920-2720.
Southwest Conference Annual Meeting

The United Church of Christ congregations and communities in Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso TX are gathering this week via Zoom videoconference for our Annual Meeting. Shadow Rock lay delegates are Susan Glynn, Stephanie Moffett, John Pierce, and Karen Richter. This evening, Pastor Ken and Karen are leading workshops on refugee welcoming ministry and Our Whole Lives programming, respectively.

Please hold in prayer the work of the Southwest Conference, its congregations, leadership teams, and communities.

Friday evening, the Conference is pleased to be welcoming recording artist Heatherlyn, also known as River (she/they), for a virtual concert at 7:00 pm. Heatherlyn performed a few years ago at Shadow Rock. It's going to be a wonderful evening. For help getting a ticket, please reach out to Wende Gonzales, Relational Communications for the SWC.
Preschool Spring Fling

The Spring Fling carnival was a great time for our preschool families. Our teachers, Mr. Bill, and Mr. Joe provided a fantastic experience for students, parents, and siblings.
Celebrating Gifts of Life

The Red Cross was wrong about their giving estimates for this past Sunday's blood drive at Shadow Rock, and that's a good thing! Instead of the expected 20 units, there were 29. Thank you!
Eileen Hoard Memorial Service

It's our privilege to be hosting the Celebration of Life for Shadow Rock Preschool Founding Director Eileen Hoard. Eileen's daughters invite your participation in the service on May 7 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary. A reception in Smith Hall will follow. To help the family plan, please email Cindy regarding your plans to attend.

Our community continues to be blessed by Eileen's life of service.
