Rock the Week
Happy Birthday, Church!

Welcome to June - this Sunday is the day of Pentecost, the beginnings of the Church, opening weekend of Pride month, and our celebration of communion. The communion offering supports Shadow Rock's Refugee Resettlement Fund. Your generosity provides an enlivening spark of renewal that spreads beyond our walls.

And, what better way to welcome the spirit of Pentecost than a congregational meeting? After worship (and a short stretch break), we'll re-gather both in person and via Zoom to take care of the business of our life together as a community. The agenda of the meeting is available here and includes the election of board members and updates regarding finances and preschool. We are grateful for Shadow Rock leaders that make our life together possible. See you there!
Upcoming Spiritual Formation Opportunities

Even as our temperatures rise, we have things going on! Here's what's on the horizon for spiritual formation:

  • Zoom Small Group - join friends in a supportive and engaging program online June 6, 13, and 20 as we explore sustaining a journaling practice during July Sabbath. This starts in just a few days! Gather your favorite pen and email Karen for the Zoom link.
  • What's up with Pentecost? June 5 is a time to talk about the church's birth... and our shared future. Even with our July Sabbath just around the corner, it's a great season to engage in 9 o'clock spiritual formation.
  • Africa's Great Civilizations - we're screening this beautiful and challenging documentary on June 12 and 19 at 9:00 am.
  • Racial Justice Study Group - let's read and study together, in preparation for change and action. If you'd like to read and reflect over July and through this coming fall, please get in touch with Karen.
Ktizo Korner

June is here!

The Ktizo Heat Relief program begins TODAY. Beside guaranteeing distribution of water during the summer months, this ministry serves 60 meals every Wednesday along with takeaway sandwiches. Perhaps your workplace, neighborhood, or club would like to sponsor a sandwich-making party. For details, please contact Susan Felt. This week, we're giving a grateful shout-out to Nanci Campbell's workplace, Cable One, for their support of this program! Yay to Nanci and her co-workers for making a difference.

Toiletries are another ongoing need for the Ktizo neighborhood. These include travel-size soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb, hairbrush, and sunscreen plus feminine care products, dental floss and toilet paper. Please leave your donated items in the Ktizo shopping cart on Sunday mornings until we complete set-up of an Amazon Wishlist.

Our partnership with Ktizo centers on mutuality, hospitality, and compassion. Thanks for giving this opportunity prayerful consideration.
