ROCK THE WEEK
2 June 2021
~Special Edition~
A Plan for August and Beyond

As temperatures heat up and we think about cooling down for July Sabbath, you might be wondering how the second half of 2021 will feel. In some ways, things have begun to feel more normal; in other ways, things are still strange and some changes feel permanent.

Here's what hasn't changed: we are in community together, caring for one another.

Pastor Ken and the Shadow Rock staff are ready to share with you plans for June and July and for our return in August. To share your comments or to ask questions, just hit reply.

June: Our current schedule of hybrid worship continues, including a 10:00 am Congregational Meeting on June 20. Pastor Ken's sermons and our worship liturgy will focus on different aspects of Sabbath.

July: Members of the Shadow Rock Board will lead Wednesday Connections on Zoom at 7:00 pm (July 7, 14, 21, and 28). Links will be sent the last week of June. The church office will close at the end of business on July 1 to accommodate preschool programming.

Fall 2021: Beginning on August 1, we will have a single worship service at 10:15 am, followed by Coffee Chat. The Sunday following Labor Day (September 12), we will return to our pre-pandemic Sunday Morning Experience.
  • 9:00 am Spiritual Formation (adults and children)
  • 10:15 am Worship
  • 11: 15 am Coffee Chat
  • 11:45 am Afterparty
While this is a schedule that we've used previously, we're not "going back." We will continue to experiment and live into hybrid models of church, worship, and fellowship. As we get closer to Sabbath and then again when we return, please check Rock the Week, our website and Facebook page, and other communications to stay up to date on everything happening on the campus and in our virtual spaces.
Our Community This Week
Wednesday (6/2): Connections Count on Zoom at 7:00 pm
We've been doing this connection time on Wednesdays for a while now. Maybe you are needing to gather with friendly faces tonight. Zoom is the space for bringing our celebrations and our sorrows. This time together keeps us joined at heart! Click here TONIGHT at 7:00 to participate.

Thursday (6/3): Spirituality Thursday
On Thursdays in July, Karen will be sharing resources for Sabbath with a series "On the Couch," live on the Shadow Rock Facebook page. Catch this short video live or tune in later to watch the recording.

Sunday, June 6
Adult Spiritual Formation will be meeting on Zoom and in the Multipurpose Room this Sunday at 10:00 am. We just have a couple of weeks left for pre-Sabbath formation... On June 6 and 13, we are looking at one of the most beloved bits of scripture, Romans chapter 8. It's full of bumper sticker theology, but some good stuff too. When we do an 'old-fashioned' Bible study, we stay true to our values and honest with one another. As always, all are welcome. No preparation or prior knowledge is necessary or expected.

Worship In-Person: 9:00 am and 11:00 am
Worship on Zoom or Streaming: 11:00 am
Afterparty In-Person and on Zoom: noon - 12:45 pm
It's a great day to be with your Shadow Rock family. Click the big button below to let us know that you're coming this week.

After the 11:00 am service, Zoom folks and in-person folks can both dive into Ken's sermon topic with a discussion question or two. Join us in the Multipurpose Room or just stay on Zoom for a deep diving Afterparty!
