~May the Fourth Be With You~
Happy Star Wars Day!

There's a lot going on in the world, friends. In the midst of shifts and upheavals, let's find reasons to celebrate and remember our joy.
Rev. Traci Blackmon Speaks to the Leaked Supreme Court Document

National Setting Leader Rev. Traci Blackmon was quick to respond to the Supreme Court document leaked on Monday, May 3. It's a good time to read more about reproductive freedom and responses from people of faith and conscience. We are grateful for Pastor Traci's statement:

Dear Siblings,
In this moment when abortion rights are under assault, please know this: the United Church of Christ faithfully supported access to safe abortion before Roe v. Wade and we will faithfully support it now. This is not a draft for us. This is discipleship.

Fundraising Efforts to Support Our Families and Neighbors

The Shadow Rock congregation has been bold in our support of Afghan families displaced or in danger by the Taliban takeover in mid-2021. We have sponsored two families and welcomed them to the Phoenix area. A third family is desperate to come to Arizona from a country that's friendly to the new regime in Afghanistan. They remain in great danger, but we have hope that they will be safe soon.

Our commitment to these families goes beyond logistical and emotional support. We will offer financial and material support as they arrive, get settled, and move toward self-sufficiency. We have an ambitious fundraising goal: $100,000 dedicated to this ministry. Any support toward this goal from family, friends, neighbors and compassionate strangers is needed and appreciated. If you have questions about this ministry or are ready to make a pledge of support, please contact Pastor Ken.

To help the family plan, please email Cindy regarding your plans to attend.

Our community continues to be blessed by Eileen's life of service.
