Connections Count...More Than Ever
Tonight is a special offering of our Wednesday "Connections Count" to help us process and pray after the election. The results are still uncertain. What is certain is our convictions about the deep goodness of life and that God is in the nooks and crannies of the destiny of our nation working out the last word of peace and justice. Come and share with each other. Click the link at 7:00 p.m. to participate.
This Week Online
Wednesday (11/4): Connections Count on Zoom at 7:00 p.m.
A combination of celebrations and prayer requests, plus a chance to connect with our Shadow Rock family. Click here at 7:00 to participate.

Thursday (11/5): Spirituality Thursday on our Facebook page
A weekly video highlighting a different spiritual practice or concept. In November, we'll jump on the gratitude bandwagon with a whole month of gratitude for the church. We'll get started tomorrow by being grateful for the church year.

Monday (returns 11/16): Small Group Ministry on Zoom
Monday Small Groups are on hiatus for just a couple of weeks. Beginning November 16, we'll be gathering to explore safe and mindful holiday celebrations. The group will encourage and support one another as we look toward Thanksgiving and Christmas. Email Karen to get the Zoom link!

Sunday, November 8
Virtual Worship is delivered to your inbox first thing in the morning.
Due to increasing positive COVID test results in our local area, we're returning to a Zoom-only worship experience. Click the Zoom link at 11:00 am in the worship email for music, prayer, sermon with discussion, and celebrations! This Sunday marks the beginning of stewardship season, with an emphasis on "ultimate" stewardship: our prayerful caretaking and consideration of one another.

Adult Spiritual Formation is at 10:00 a.m. on Zoom. The link is in the worship email. November's topic is creative prayer practices. We're used to thinking of prayer in certain ways (eyes closed, head bowed, mind wandering!) but there's much more to explore. Expect a lively and encouraging discussion, at which all are welcome.

Shadow Rock will be hosting a free flu shot clinic on Monday, November 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is free, but if you have insurance, please remember to bring your card. It will speed things up if your consent forms are filled out ahead of time - you can find them here in English and Spanish.

Federal agencies have warned cyber criminals are unleashing a wave of Ransomware attacks against the U.S. healthcare system designed to lock up hospital information systems, which could hurt patient care just as nationwide cases of COVID-19 are spiking.

Please remember to use caution on suspicious emails. Do not click on links or open attachments from companies you do not know. Verify through another method (such as a phone call) if someone is requesting information or something doesn't seem right. Remember that legitimate emails from Shadow Rock staff will have the "@shadowrockucc.org" after the staff person's name. When in doubt, do not open!

The Desert Mission truck will be on campus to safely accept your donations of turkeys, canned sides, or cash donations from 9:00 a.m. until noon. You can also mail your donation to the church or contact Heidi to donate online. Just be sure to indicate "Desert Mission Turkey Trot" on your check or e-giving. Thanks for your support! Gobble gobble!
colorful thank you
From Shari Radcliff:
The response to the church's request for the letters on Misael's behalf in rapid time was overwhelming! 23 letters were taken to the attorney's office Thursday, Oct. 29th. The attorney shared that they indeed should help Misael's Asylum case, Dec. 7th. Misael is so grateful for his Shadow Rock friends and this help. I want to add my personal thank you - your response is so appreciated.

Our next challenge is to pray for the immigration judge to rule with his heart and issue asylum for our friend.
Third quarter giving statements were sent out recently to Shadow Rock friends and families. If you did not receive one and believe you should have, or if you have questions about anything on your statement, please contact Heidi in the finance office for assistance. Thank you for your continued support of Shadow Rock!
What is the difference between COVID-19 and the flu? Our Minister of Wholeness, Rev. Dr. Patricia StandTal Clark breaks it down for us! Read her latest letter by clicking here.
Focus On....
Each week we'll be spotlighting an organization or site that's worth looking into. If you would like to suggest a future group to feature, please contact Abeth.

Arts organizations have been impacted severely by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of them are turning to online shows to help bring in revenue. This Saturday, Starlight Community Theater is streaming their recent production of "Dracula" (which co-stars our own Abeth Spencer as Van Helsing!) at 6:00 pm Arizona time. Tickets are available at their website.
Reminders While the Campus is Closed
  • Our mail service is on hold and being picked up more sporadically. If you have important mail that needs our attention, please contact Heidi and she will give you an alternate address so we can receive it quicker.
  • If you need any assistance securing groceries, medicine or toiletries, please contact us via email. We want to do our best to make sure everyone is safe and well.
  • One of the most important things we can do for each other during this time of isolation and distance is to keep in touch. We're a very social church family, and it's hard to be apart from one another! Try to take time every day or two to call, text, or email one of your Shadow Rock friends.
Supporting Shadow Rock
Thank you for your love and support of Shadow Rock! Your financial support and donations are more important than ever as we go through this unprecedented time of uncertainty. If you have questions about giving electronically, please reach out to Heidi and she'll be happy to help! You can also give to our Pastor's Charitable Fund or Facilities Improvement Fund by clicking the yellow donate button below.
