Rock the Week
July Sabbath

If you're new or new-ish to Shadow Rock, you might be unfamiliar with our July Sabbath practice. Shadow Rock is closed in July - no church services, no office hours, no church meetings. What began in the earliest days of our community as a practical consideration (the unavailability of the church's meeting space in July), became a beloved tradition. After worship on June 26, we'll celebrate rest, renewal, and re-creation. The church office re-opens on August 1. Through June, Rock the Week will have information about July Sabbath: resources for pastoral care (someone is always on call - listen to the voice mail outgoing message for details), recovery community meetings, and things to look forward to when we return.
Upcoming Spiritual Formation Opportunities

Even as we prepare for July, we have things going on! Here's what's on the horizon for spiritual formation:

  • Africa's Great Civilizations - we're screening this beautiful and challenging documentary series beginning this Sunday at 9:00 am and continuing on June 19. Spiritual Formation resumes after July Sabbath.
  • Zoom Small Group - our gathering via Zoom to explore journaling practices began this past Monday, but it's not too late to join in for June 13 and 20. Grab your favorite pen and email Karen for the Zoom link and some getting-started resources.
  • Racial Justice Study Group - let's read and study together, in preparation for change and action. If you'd like to read and reflect over July and through this coming fall, please get in touch with Karen.
Ktizo Korner

June is here!

Heat Relief and Hydration program at Ktizo has begun and is off to a great, life-sustaining start. Donations needed right now include: creamy peanut butter, jelly other than grape, and travel-sized deodorant. You're invited to bring these items with you on Sundays in June - just drop your donated items in the grocery cart and someone will take care of getting them where they are needed.

Ready to get involved in heat relief? Check out the Ktizo Sign Up Genius. We are grateful for our solidarity and partnership with the Ktizo UCC community.
Shadow Rock's Congregational Meeting was June 5. We're grateful for all who attended, led, voted, and prepared for our time together. It feels good to "take care of business" in ways that celebrate who we are together. Some links for documents and presentations that were shared on Sunday are available here:

If you have questions about these documents, please email Heidi.
