2022 Lenten Journey

Lent Reminders
  • The Spiritual Formation Wednesday Small Group has two more sessions: tonight and April 6. Weeknight small group ministry will return for a brief series in late May. Join tonight at 7:00 pm on Zoom.
  • If you missed last Sunday's installment of our sermon series on church-related trauma or want to re-visit it, click here. We're highlighting below some of the resources Pastor Ken shared on Sunday.
  • "What is Generational Trauma and How Can You Begin to Heal From It?"
  • Global Center for Religious Research: learning about religious trauma
  • If this theme of trauma is stirring things up for you, you don't need to work through it alone. Spiritual direction is a container to explore the movement of the Spirit in a comprehensive way. Just call the Shadow Rock office or reply to this email to get connected.

Looking Ahead to Easter

The Shadow Rock community will gather to celebrate the new life of Easter on Sunday, April 17.

Early Service: 8:00 am
Breakfast: 8:45 am to 9:30 am
Egg Hunt: 9:45 am
Worship: 10:15 am

The Egg Hunt is for children 10 years of age and under... and it's time to get ready! If you would like to contribute small, wrapped, non-chocolate candy or small prizes, please bring them to the Narthex on Sunday or to the church office before April 5. If you donate chocolate candy, the staff will eat it so it doesn't melt on the playground Easter morning (honesty is a spiritual practice). Thank you!

If you have Egg Hunt questions or want to come help, please email Karen.
Predatory Debt Campaign - a social justice advocacy opportunity

The UCC Southwest Conference is working with Healthcare Rising Arizona to address the economic justice issue of predatory debt collection. This effort includes gathering signatures to required to get the Predatory Debt Collection Act on the November ballot.

In Arizona, interest rates of medical debt can increase by as much as 10% per year. Families can lose their homes, cars, or have their wages garnished by predatory debt collectors, even if they have done everything right. The Predatory Debt Collection Protection Act fixes these problems by:
  • Protecting more assets from being sold to pay off debt collectors
  • Ensuring hard-working Arizonans keep more of their bank accounts and wages
  • Limiting the outrageous interest rates that trap families in an unending cycle of medical debt
We will be collecting signatures after Sunday Service for the remaining Sundays of Lent. You can also sign in the Shadow Rock parking lot (just drive through!) this coming Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Ktizo Korner

Our friends at Ktizo UCC are acting on their call to serve and support unhoused folks in their neighborhood. Their efforts and their care are blessing others!
