ROCK THE WEEK
October 14, 2020
Shadow Rock Spirit Radio Hour
As per yesterday's email, we are cancelling in-person worship scheduled for October 18th. Consider it cancelled until further notice. Please follow the COVID numbers and the status with us on our website under the Menu option "NEWS".

However, we will be offering a parking lot service at 11:00 a.m. via an FM radio transmission. Come to the church parking lot, bring your coffee, stay in your cars and watch and listen to the Shadow Rock Spirit Radio Hour. Station frequency will be announced when you arrive. If you have a celebration or prayer request to be shared during the service, please print it on a piece of paper and give it to the person who greets you at your vehicle in the parking lot. This service will also be streamed on Zoom as we have been doing.

We would still like you to RSVP so we have a rough idea of how many cars to expect. Please use this sign-up link below to do so. We need the RSVPs each week before Friday at noon. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Ken.

Thursday (10/15): Spirituality Thursday on our Facebook page
A weekly video highlighting a different spiritual practice or concept. The theme for Thursdays this month is OUTDOORS. This week, our focus is "the first Gospel," the prayerbook of Creation.

Monday (10/19): Small Group Ministry on Zoom at 6:55 p.m.
It's the last week of Creativity Challenge! This week's prompt is Friendship Challenge: make something to give away. We'll gather on Zoom at 6:55 pm to share what we've made and maybe say something about our creative process. Even if what you "made" is a cup of tea, you're welcome to join us! Get the Zoom link or learn more about this group by emailing Karen.

Sunday, October 18
Virtual Worship is delivered to your inbox first thing in the morning.
This week, we launch our parking lot worship experience - the Shadow Rock Radio Spirit Hour! See above for more details and how to RSVP. If you are not planning on coming, we'll meet via Zoom at 11:00, with the link in the worship email. The theme this week is "The Political Philosophy of Jesus: The Kingdom of God."

Adult Spiritual Formation is at 10:00 a.m. on Zoom. You'll find the link in Sunday's worship email. We continue our discussion of allyship - how we show up for others - this week. We're focusing this coming Sunday on intersectionality, a way of talking about how overlapping identities affect oppression and privilege. In these weeks leading up to the election, we're asking, "Who are we voting FOR? and Who are we voting ON BEHALF OF?" Allyship is a spiritual practice, if we allow it to be.

We appreciate Pastor Ken! Thanks to everyone who came to the car parade last Thursday, or who showed their support in a more virtual way. He was totally surprised and very appreciative.

Amazon's Prime Day Deals are back from October 13-14. This is a great opportunity to support Shadow Rock through the Amazon Smile program. Learn how to sign-up here. Then shop normally! Shadow Rock is given a portion of your total from Amazon. To date, Amazon has given us just over $2000!

We also have a similar partnership with Fry's Community Rewards. We just received a check for the quarter from them, totally $174.97. That makes well over $4000 from Fry's! Thanks to everyone who supports Shadow Rock in these simple ways.
Focus On....
Each week we'll be spotlighting an organization or site that's worth looking into. If you would like to suggest a future group to feature, please contact Abeth.

Are you a crafty person? Have you considered using those skills to make a difference? There are many groups and organizations that accept hand-made goods. Nobleknits has a long list of knitting and crocheting charities - click on the yellow button to explore. Use this time in quarantine to learn a new skill and help out those in need!
Reminders While the Campus is Closed
  • Our mail service is on hold and being picked up more sporadically. If you have important mail that needs our attention, please contact Heidi and she will give you an alternate address so we can receive it quicker.
  • If you need any assistance securing groceries, medicine or toiletries, please contact us via email. We want to do our best to make sure everyone is safe and well.
  • One of the most important things we can do for each other during this time of isolation and distance is to keep in touch. We're a very social church family, and it's hard to be apart from one another! Try to take time every day or two to call, text, or email one of your Shadow Rock friends.
Supporting Shadow Rock
Thank you for your love and support of Shadow Rock! Your financial support and donations are more important than ever as we go through this unprecedented time of uncertainty. If you have questions about giving electronically, please reach out to Heidi and she'll be happy to help! You can also give to our Pastor's Charitable Fund or Facilities Improvement Fund by clicking the yellow donate button below.
