On Our Way to July Sabbath

July Sabbath is nearly here! If you're new to Shadow Rock, our July tradition of (mostly) closing the church may seem strange. What began in the early 1970s as a practical consideration related to our temporary worship space became a beloved tradition of rest and re-creation. Here's everything you need to know:



  • June 26: no spiritual formation, "Hello Sabbath" worship at 10:15 am
  • On-call Pastoral Care: if you have a pastoral care emergency while the office is closed, please call the main church phone number, 602-993-0050, and listen to the voicemail message. It will give instructions and information.
  • 12 Step Recovery groups will continue to meet during July: Nar-Anon Mondays at 6:30 pm, Al-Anon Beginners Wednesdays at 7:00 pm and Thursdays at 6:15 pm, Al-Anon Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, and AA Thursdays at 7:30 pm.
  • The church office re-opens on Monday, August 1. Our regular hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
  • Worship resumes on Sunday, August 7 at 10:15 am.

Ktizo Korner

The Ktizo shopping cart will be in the Narthex this week for its final voyage until August. Many things are needed: toiletries, menswear, empty prescription bottles and wash cloths. You can also participate hands on: spending a couple hours in the air conditioning helping feed people or making sandwiches. Check out their Sign Up Genius to get started.
