ROCK THE WEEK
July 1, 2020
An Uncommon Communion is Coming!
This Sunday will be the first Sunday of the month and so we will enjoy communion together via Zoom. While the virtual part isn't new (we've done it for the past four months), it is special in that this month happens to be July!

Historically, Shadow Rock closes for the month of July, to take our "Shadow Rock Sabbath" as an intentional time of recreation and renewal. But in these extraordinary times, we are keeping connections open and continuing online meetings, discussions, and our Sunday Virtual Worship Service. This week's July communion together is one of a (very) small handful in our almost 50 year history. We hope you'll bring your preferred bread and beverage and join us for this special time. Look for the Zoom link in Sunday's Worship Email.

Small groups began this past Monday and will continue through August, alternating between discussions of popular culture and anti-racism. Next Monday is anti-racism, and there is required reading beforehand. Contact Karen for information about joining these groups, or if there is a topic of interest you'd like to explore in a small group format.

Sunday, July 5
Virtual Worship is delivered to your inbox first thing in the morning. This week we are focusing on Sabbath Embracing of Intentionality and this includes an interview with our own in-house certified spiritual director, Karen Richter

Faith Formation is on hiatus until August. Fall topics will be announced soon.

Communion will be via Zoom at 11:00 a.m. Click the provided link in your Worship Email to join us. We will then ease into our fellowship time together in the same Zoom meeting.

It's time for the Shadow Rock Census! As mentioned in previous weeks, we're updating our church records. This involves hundreds of households and we want to try and do this as efficiently as possible.

If you can take five minutes to fill in your household's contact information, it would save our volunteers a phone call! Seriously, just five minutes. Go ahead and do it now. Rock the Week will still be here when you get back. It's fine. We'll wait.
Thanks! We appreciate it! After we gather as much information as we can here, our volunteers will be reaching out to those we have not heard from, those with limited Internet access, or those who otherwise need assistance.

Speaking of the Census.....did you fill out your official 2020 U.S. Census yet? It's important and helps shape the future of our communities. You can find details here.
Focus On....
Each week we'll be spotlighting an organization or site that's worth looking into. If you would like to suggest a future group to feature, please contact Abeth .

Love Glasses Revolution is a company started by Tara Ijai and her husband Adnane. They visited our church last November, and shared their vision of viewing the world with love. (You can view that message by clicking here .) It's summertime - if you need some new sunglasses, you might consider supporting them!
Reminders While the Campus is Closed
  • Our mail service is on hold and being picked up more sporadically. If you have important mail that needs our attention, please contact Heidi and she will give you an alternate address so we can receive it quicker.
  • If you need any assistance securing groceries, medicine or toiletries, please contact us via email. We want to do our best to make sure everyone is safe and well.
  • One of the most important things we can do for each other during this time of isolation and distance is to keep in touch. We're a very social church family, and it's hard to be apart from one another! Try to take time every day or two to call, text, or email one of your Shadow Rock friends.
Supporting Shadow Rock
Thank you for your love and support of Shadow Rock! Your financial support and donations are more important than ever as we go through this unprecedented time of uncertainty. If you have questions about giving electronically, please reach out to Heidi and she'll be happy to help! You can also give to our Pastor's Charitable Fund or Facilities Improvement Fund by clicking the yellow donate button below.
