ROCK THE WEEK
July 22, 2020
We Remember
Shepherd of the Hills Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. Donald Heinrich (August 18, 1922 - July 18, 2020) has died. In addition to serving at Shepherd of the Hills, Rev. Heinrich also served as the interim pastor at Shadow Rock for a period in the early 90's. We remember fondly his love of Peanuts cartoons and the clever ways he found to work them into his sermons. More details on viewing and funeral arrangements will be posted as they become available.

Virtual Worship  is delivered to your inbox first thing in the morning. Embrace the world with the spirit and ethic of Sabbath. Being spirit and love-centric comes through in this week's interview with Tiffany Martinez. She understands art as a microcosm of the world. Art helps us put the world in huggable-size pieces. Embrace the world around you and know all is good. U se the link in the worship email to join us at 11:00 on Zoom for Coffee Chat.

Faith Formation  is on summer break for one more week. Coming in August and Beyond: 10:30 a.m. Adult Spiritual Formation returns with two mini-series that both focus on clarity: universal human needs/values and the iceberg model of culture. Later in the fall, look for worship workshops, a deep dive into what it means to be an "ally," and creative prayer practices.

There is a new initiative – UCC at ASU – that will serve as a wonderful activity and resource for those students whether attending in person or through online classes. An email scam is again making the rounds. It contains a fake email address with Pastor Ken's name attached to it, asking you to contact him, or even soliciting gift card money. We want to remind you Pastor Ken, nor any member of the church staff would ever solicit a direct donation from a congregation member.

Please double-check your emails carefully - Pastor Ken's legitimate email address is [email protected], and any other addresses are spam.

Based on current statistics as well as a risk assessment, the decision has been made for Shadow Rock Preschool to remain totally closed through October 18, 2020 for the health and safety of our children, teachers and staff. The hope is that Preschool will reopen on October 19th.
Focus On....
Each week we'll be spotlighting an organization or site that's worth looking into. If you would like to suggest a future group to feature, please contact Abeth .

The Arizona Department of Health Services is offering free masks for individuals 65 and older, or other vulnerable populations. The order form can be found by clicking the yellow "visit their website" button. Each order will provide 5 washable, reusable cloth face masks, one order per household.
Reminders While the Campus is Closed
  • Our mail service is on hold and being picked up more sporadically. If you have important mail that needs our attention, please contact Heidi and she will give you an alternate address so we can receive it quicker.
  • If you need any assistance securing groceries, medicine or toiletries, please contact us via email. We want to do our best to make sure everyone is safe and well.
  • One of the most important things we can do for each other during this time of isolation and distance is to keep in touch. We're a very social church family, and it's hard to be apart from one another! Try to take time every day or two to call, text, or email one of your Shadow Rock friends.
Supporting Shadow Rock
Thank you for your love and support of Shadow Rock! Your financial support and donations are more important than ever as we go through this unprecedented time of uncertainty. If you have questions about giving electronically, please reach out to Heidi and she'll be happy to help! You can also give to our Pastor's Charitable Fund or Facilities Improvement Fund by clicking the yellow donate button below.
