Words with Wilson
The Catholic Business Network (CBN) is an association of businesses and professionals working together for the mutual benefit of its members. It is devoted to the support and development of Catholic education. In July, I received an invitation from the Catholic Business Network to apply for a grant that they would be funding. This week I received word that we were one of three schools that were chosen to receive the grant.

On Thursday, Mrs. Elaine Hale came to present the check to our school. A big thank you to the Catholic Business Network for caring about Catholic education, and serving the needs of our students. We will be purchasing chromebooks for our Kindergarten students, which will now make us a one to one school!

Have a great weekend!
Election Day- Virtual Learning Day
Tuesday, November 3, 2020

As many of you know, St. Roch has traditionally been a polling site. This tradition will continue this election year, and we are excited to welcome the precinct to St. Roch.

The precinct is “housed” in our Parish Life Center and Gymnasium. This location has worked well in the past and has allowed us to continue a normal school day and simply cancel PE classes for the day. This year we have a couple more obstacles due to the changes we have had to make in order to be compliant with the state and local rules for COVID-19 and the changes we have had to make to keep our students off the front parking lot for recess and with our change to our dismissal.

Due to these changes, we will not be able to operate our school on Election Day this year. We have decided to make this an e-Learning day for St. Roch Catholic School. We were originally doing a 1 pm dismissal on this day, but feel for safety purposes, it will be better to not have our students on campus.

Teachers will send home materials and schedules for “live” lessons for this day the Friday before the election. Older students, grades 3-8, will also bring their Chromebooks home for this eLearning Day.

Thank you in advance for your support to this change in our school calendar!

In case you didn’t know, Sarah Widner (mom of Aly, Kasey and Chase) spent some very long days and nights leading up to the first day of school sewing masks for the entire St. Roch school community, including teachers, staff and students. We just wanted to publicly thank Sarah for sharing her time and talent. You Roch, Sarah!
