Rocket Report

Vol. 4, No. 24, February 12th
Words with Wilson
We have had a fantastic Catholic Schools Week! Although Covid forced us to be a little more low key, the spirit and enthusiasm of the students and staff was more alive than ever. I had the opportunity to speak before our school Masses this week. I always cherish every opportunity to remind them that the fact that we get to celebrate Mass together, is the very reason we celebrate Catholic Schools. It is what unites us together with Christ, and also what sets us apart from other schools.

Our Masses were absolutely beautiful this week. They really took the message to heart and participated in an extraordinary way. They were energetic with their responses and really sang out. Thank you for choosing a Catholic education for your children, and more importantly thank you for choosing St. Roch Catholic School. We are truly blessed with great parents and wonderful students!

Have a great weekend!

In the Know with PTO
The PTO helped with a number of events during Catholic Schools Week. On Tuesday, we hosted a Subway-catered luncheon for teachers and staff. On Thursday morning, PTO purchased donuts from Boyden’s for the whole school. Thursday afternoon, we organized a virtual scavenger hunt for the kids to enjoy. Today was the grand finale. PTO purchased and delivered heartfelt gifts to teachers and staff, which included a candy-filled mug and devotional book. For the kids, PTO sponsored prizes for the all-school bingo event. And of course, today was the day your cookies and personalized notes were delivered to deserving recipients throughout St. Roch school. More than 500 cookies were purchased and delivered to students, teachers and staff! Wow, Rockets! Way to show your love and support for the best Catholic school on the south side!
Congratulations to Mr. Elam’s class, who raised the most raffle money in January. These lucky kids have won a casual day and an ice cream party! For your chance at winning the big bucks (and ice cream for your kids), sign up for the February 50/50 raffle. To participate, you know the drill: send those labeled envelopes (name, phone number, student, grade / teacher, and the enclosed dollar amount) to the school office for as many chances as you wish! $5 per chance. (License #2608)
Banners for the gym—and it won by a landslide! Thanks to everyone for weighing in on how we can use PTO funds to continue improving St. Roch school. We’ll report back here when we have more details on this exciting new project!
Everyone who has received a meal over the past two weeks (via the PTO COVID Care meal program) has been extremely grateful. While the number of cases in our St. Roch community appears to be declining, it’s not too late to sign up and wait for your opportunity to help in the future. If you can't help at the time you are asked—no problem! We'll come back to you later. To join this program and help, visit the Signup Genius.
Guys. Box Tops just got a WHOLE LOT easier. No more cutting and clipping. We’re in 2021 after all, and there’s finally an app for that. From this point forward, to get box top credits, all you need to do is log into the app and scan your grocery receipts. So, we need you to do a couple things so that St. Roch can continue to earn money from the Box Tops program:

1) Go to your app store, and search for the “Box Tops for Education” app.
2) Sign up via email, Facebook, or another integrated application.
3) Search for St. Roch using keyword “ST ROCH CATHOLIC” our zip code (46227).
4) Go through the short graphical demonstration on how to use the app.
5) Try to remember to scan your receipts after each grocery trip!
The winter spirit wear sale ended on Sunday, January 31. Our aim is to have all items delivered the week of February 22nd! If you need spirit wear in the future, you can always visit 1 st Place Spiritwear.

My Story, R Family
This week's My Story, R Family features Kevin R'09 and Audrey R'10 Banich. Although both are graduates, Kevin and Audrey were not high school sweethearts. It wasn't until they were not in school together that they started building their faith, friendship and now family together. For Kevin and Audrey, Roncalli is like home and a place they want to be. We are blessed to have Kevin, Audrey and their son James in the Roncalli family.
