Rocket Report

Vol. 4, No. 12, October 30th
Words with Wilson
Although Halloween will look a bit different this year, it has been fun to see the excitement that it brings our students. As the weather changes, and the holidays approach, there is always an excitement that builds this time of year.

I like to think that I am a person who is mindful of my many blessings all year long. This week I have been reminded of the special blessing that is the community of St. Roch Parish and School. I sent an email out last week asking for some donations of frisbees, playground balls, and footballs. The response has been overwhelming! I am constantly in awe of the many generous people who make up our community.

From water coolers, to televisions, to play ground balls, to snacks for the teacher snack cart, this community continues to come through for the students and staff of St. Roch Catholic School. Thank you for your generous support. This is an amazing place!
Election Day- Virtual Learning Day
Tuesday, November 3, 2020
On Tuesday, November 3rd, St. Roch Catholic School will be E-Learning. Below you will find the schedule for the day.

Our preschool and Pre-K students will not have any E-learning for the day. Kindergarten-4th grade students will bring home their work on Monday, that is to be completed on Tuesday. Since this E-Learning is just for one day, we do not feel the need to go LIVE for our younger grades. We feel like it would be very difficult on our parents and grandparents for these younger students.

Our 5th-8th grade students will be having LIVE instruction. They will be allowed to bring their Chromebook home on Monday. They are all well versed in Google Classroom, so they should be able to navigate their learning.

5th and 6th Grade
5th Grade Language Arts- 9:00 am
6th Grade Math- 9:00 am

5th Grade Math -10:00 am
6th Grade Language Arts - 10:00 am

Social Studies, science and religion will send assigned work home on Monday.

7th and 8th Grade
7th Grade Language Arts- 9:00 am
8th Grade SS- 9:00 am

7th Grade SS- 10:00 am
8th Grade Language Arts- 10:00 am

Math, science and religion will send assigned work on Monday. Students will access their LIVE classes via google classroom. They have been trained and do this everyday, so they should be able to navigate very easily.

Thank you for your support of this last minute calendar change.
St. Roch Day of Thanks & Giving
This year continues to provide many new challenges for us. Normally, we would be holding our annual Reverse Raffle and Auction. This is one of St. Roch’s main fundraisers for the year. This year we will be having the “St. Roch Day of Thanks and Giving.” More details will be out soon about the specifics of the event. We will still be creating baskets for this event.

We really need everyone’s participation to make the baskets a huge success. Any monetary donations would be greatly appreciated (check should be made payable to “St. Roch”). The donations can be forwarded to the student’s teacher and we are hoping to have all donations in by Friday, November 14th. We would also gladly accept gift card donations. There is no set amount to give, just whatever you can afford at this time.

If you wish to donate online, please use the link below.

PS - Are you or someone you know interested in doing even more to ensure the success of this event? We have some very exciting sponsorship opportunities available. Please reach out to Tina Hayes at hayes6850@yahoo.com for a list of our sponsorship levels and the many benefits associated with being part of this inaugural event. Together - we will raise $50,000 for Saint Roch!

October Executive Committee Meeting Update
For a number of reasons, October’s executive committee (EC) business ended up being conducted over email. The most significant news is that the EC voted to donate $2,000 toward a men’s club project to build a fence that will enclose the St. Roch property. This important safety feature will reduce unwanted foot traffic.

For those EC members who met in person, the majority of the time was spent sorting and preparing spiritwear for delivery last week. A special shout-out goes to Tina Hayes for all her hard work in selecting, designing, ordering, and delivering all of our awesome spiritwear. She’s the one making us all look so good!

And finally, thanks to your participation in the general meeting, there are a number of new ideas on the table for discussion in the coming weeks.
