Rocket Report

Vol. 4, No. 8, September 25, 2020
Words with Wilson
Today was a fantastic day! I am so grateful for our St. Roch community. As I watched the students today, I couldn't help but think about how lucky I am to be a part of such a fantastic community. It was a reminder of why my husband and I decided years ago to make St. Roch our home.

Thank you so much for your support of St. Roch Catholic School. Your support is so much more than money. It comes in the form of kind words, smiles and your everyday actions. I am going into this weekend with a full heart and a complete since of gratitude.

Have a fantastic weekend!

The students have earned their Kona Ice incentive! We will schedule for Kona Ice to come to our campus one day during the week prior to Fall Break.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Since it is the year of different, and we will not be able to do our traditional conference schedule, teachers will be reaching out to you about your conference time. Some teachers are using Zoom, some are having phone conferences and some are choosing to meet face to face outside.

Each teacher will communicate with you how they are doing their conferences. If you do not hear from the teacher, they do not feel as though a conference is necessary at this time. If you are not contacted, but feel you would like a conference, please email the teacher and they will set-up a time for you. Our teachers who have elected to do in-person conferences will be holding them the week of October 5th.

Please watch your email for more information from your teacher.

Election Day- Virtual Learning Day
Tuesday, November 3, 2020

As many of you know, St. Roch has traditionally been a polling site. This tradition will continue this election year, and we are excited to welcome the precinct to St. Roch.

The precinct is “housed” in our Parish Life Center and Gymnasium. This location has worked well in the past and has allowed us to continue a normal school day and simply cancel PE classes for the day. This year we have a couple more obstacles due to the changes we have had to make in order to be compliant with the state and local rules for COVID-19 and the changes we have had to make to keep our students off the front parking lot for recess and with our change to our dismissal.

Due to these changes, we will not be able to operate our school on Election Day this year. We have decided to make this an e-Learning day for St. Roch Catholic School. We were originally doing a 1 pm dismissal on this day, but feel for safety purposes, it will be better to not have our students on campus.

Teachers will send home materials and schedules for “live” lessons for this day the Friday before the election. Older students, grades 3-8, will also bring their Chromebooks home for this eLearning Day.

Thank you in advance for your support to this change in our school calendar!

My Story, R Family Series
My Story, R Family Series
This week's My Story, R Family video features Michael Wantz, St. Jude Parish. For nearly 20 years, Coach Wantz has had a presence at Roncalli, whether it be in the classroom or on the court. No matter where he is leading, prayer is a constant part of his teaching and coaching life, and students really can't experience that in many other schools in the city.
