Rocket Report
Vol. 2, No. 38, May 24, 2019
Words with Wilson
As I reflect upon this school year, I am amazed at how quickly it went. It doesn’t seem possible that this is the last day of the 2018-2019 school year. While reflecting, I also realize that I have so much to be thankful for. St. Roch Catholic School is such a special place. There are many things that make it special, but when it comes right down to it, it is the people- pastor, parents, teachers and support staff and students.

I have had a lot of time to think this past month. Being away from school for the month of May has been very difficult. What I have come to learn is that my heart needs this place. Whether it is the hug or high five in the morning from the students, the friendly wave and smile of a parent as they drop off in the morning, going into classrooms and seeing how hard our teachers work and how happy the students are to be at St. Roch, watching how much our students love and care for one another, or sitting at mass and listening to our Rockets praise God.

Thank you for an incredible school year. Thank you for trusting St. Roch Catholic School with your most important gift. I pray that you enjoy some much needed family time this summer, and that you enjoy a break from the business that the school year brings.

Have a great break, and we will see you in August!

Fall Kickball Registration
This is for all girls for incoming 3-8th grade kickball. Registration is now open through June 7th. The fee to play is $65 by the 7th. After that day there will be an additional $5 late fee.

Because of class numbers, we anticipate having mixed-grade teams at every level. When you register, please understand that you may be placed on a single grade team or a mixed-grade team.

We will also have a new uniform shirt, effective this fall. Everyone needs to order one of these. The cost will be $12 and will used for as long as it fits your daughter.

Tryout dates are tentative for June 10, 11, 18 and 19. We do not have exact times yet, but wanted to get these possible dates out to everyone. This will be the only tryout for the school year. We will not have spring tryouts.
CYO Football Sign ups
CYO is planning to make a few rules changes in the 2019 season, particularly at the 34 level where they will be moving to a 7 on 7 tackle format. The parishes of St Roch, Holy Name, St Mark and Central Catholic partner together to make the South Central Catholic Football program. As you can imagine a combined program requires a great deal of coordination and planning. In order to effectively plan for the upcoming season in terms of coaches, equipment and so forth we are having an early sign up period FOR ALL PLAYERS GRADES 3-8. If your son wishes to play football in 2019 you must sign up on the link below NO LATER THAN MAY 25th. You do not need to pay the CYO fee until August, but if you do not sign up with the link below we cannot guarantee a spot on the team. It should take less than 3 minutes. Thank you! -John Andrews

IU Summer Program
The IU Game Development Camp is in its 7th year and offers a chance for students interested in computers, art, development, and design to create their own game projects. Our week-long sessions engage participants in every aspect of game development, and by the end of each week, students will have created a working game prototype from scratch.

Participants aged 13-18 will have the opportunity to explore 2D and 3D game development using cutting-edge industry technology on the IU Bloomington campus, and we offer both day camp and overnight options for out-of-town students. Four sessions run through June, and this year, we're once again excited to offer Girlpowered!, a camp which seeks to engage young women in technology and design. We have plenty of scholarship opportunities still available. Full details can be found here: . Also, I'd be happy to come give a presentation about our Media School's summer offerings. Let me know if that's of interest!
