Vol. 4, No. 28, March 12th
Words with Wilson
"I love the kids and watching them grow through the year!!" -Mrs. Borders
" I love seeing their faces light up when they learn something new. I love hearing their laughter. I love that they still see the magic in the world. "-Leigh Gann
"I love the energy and creativity of our students and love helping them to develop their gifts." -Sister Anne Frederick
"I love teaching for many reasons, but the top reason is my love for children. I absolutely love getting to come to work every day and being with my students. I love getting to know each of them and building positive relationships with them. My ultimate goal for teaching is making a difference in student's lives and leaving an ever-lasting impact on them." _ Mrs. McClurg
"I enjoy the challenge of overcoming a student's self-doubt, laziness, or other factors that keep a student from learning. I am always striving to find creative and fun ways to encourage students to learn. I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction out of getting parents to understand their role as a parent in the education of their children. I get excited when students do well on assignments! For me, I would not call it love, I would call teaching a passion. Love is not a strong enough emotion to get you through all the hard work, challenges, and failures that come with teaching. For me, teaching is a strong, barely controllable emotion to help students improve every day. It is a passion!" - Rick Rush
" I love seeing the sense of accomplishment on kids' faces when they create something beautiful in art class. I love hearing their voices sing out their favorite church song at Mass. I love seeing them step out of their comfort zone and try new things. I love watching them perform on stage and creating a space or an opportunity for kids to really shine. I love watching them grow over the years and mature into faith-filled individuals. I love that St. Roch has the best students and staff that make coming to work every day worthwhile and so much fun!"- Mrs. Elam

Did you know that PTO organizes snacks for the teachers and staff on early dismissal days? Well, now you do! We ordered pizza for last week’s early dismissal and are planning an ice cream social for the next early dismissal on Tuesday, April 6.

Many new business items were added to our list this week, including preparing for Teacher Appreciation Week in April; thinking about how to treat students during ILEARN testing; brainstorming ways to show appreciation to our 8 th graders; and discussing how to improve the new family welcome program.

We also kicked off the planning process for the new gymnasium banners. We are currently pricing banners that will match the style used for the wrestling banner currently hanging in the gym. We also started the process of compiling St. Roch championship information over the years—investigating both internal and CYO resources.
There will be no more St. Roch PTO driven spirit wear sales for the remainder of the school year. 1stplace Spiritwear remains an option for parents and students who need/want spirit wear before the next sale in the fall of 2021. Use promo code MARCH21 for 10% off orders over $50, 20% off orders over $75, and 30% off orders over $100.

My Story, R Family
My Story, R Family
Today marks the last My Story, R Family video of the series...what a ride this past year has been! Our final video features Dr. Joe Hollowell, Roncalli's former president, principal, teacher, Summer Field Studies leader and coach...he's worn a lot of hats in these hallways! We are the Roncalli we are today due in large part to how Dr. Hollowell led us as a school and a community. We are forever grateful, and as always...we'll fight ahead!
