Rocket Report

Vol. 4, No. 21, January 22nd
Words With Wilson
Several times a day I walk through the hallways and watch and listen for the wonderful learning that is taking place. Every week I get to see our students really enjoying their learning. This week’s learning had it all: hands-on learning activities, critical thinking activities, learning through movement, students giving presentations, and students actively engaging with their peers. I love that our building is alive with the Spirit of Christ, and an excitement for learning.

I am always proud of how hard our students and teachers work. I have had several students refer to St. Roch as their 'home away from home." it is heartwarming that we can be an extension of the love and comfort their families and their home bring them.

Have a great weekend!
Mardi Gras
Tuesday, February 16th
Our 8th Grade Class will be hosting a safe and socially distant Mardi Gras celebration on Tuesday, February 16th. Students will remain with their classroom cohorts and safety measures will be in place. This event will be funded by our Student Activities fund.

A big thank you to our 8th grade for planning a fun and safe event that can keep our tradition of celebrating Mardi Gras alive!

Let’s Celebrate with Cookies!
Catholic Schools Week is just around the corner, and we have lots of fun activities planned to recognize our amazing faculty, staff and students! We’re excited to give our families a way to celebrate their students and teachers – even when they can’t actually be at the party!

This year, we are selling rocket cookies (baked & decorated by Saint Roch’s very own, Abigail Snyder) that will be delivered – with a personal message – to classrooms during Catholic Schools Week! Cookies will be $2 each. You may purchase as many as you would like! Proceeds from this sale will support other events happening at Saint Roch during Catholic Schools Week!

If you would like to order a cookie for your student (or teacher!), please fill out this form, add your personal message and return no later than Friday, January 29th. Both the form and payment should be sent to school in an envelope labeled Tina Hayes - Saint Roch PTO. Additional forms can be found on the Saint Roch PTO facebook page!

Thank you for making Saint Roch such a sweet place!
School Make-Up Days
The week of Thanksgiving we took two school days to give our teachers some much needed time to prepare for E-Learning. This year our breaks have been very welcome by our students and our staff. With things being so different, the occasional day off really helps everyone recharge.

We are going to make up our days on Thursday, May 20th, and Friday, May 28th. On May 20th we will have an E-Learning Day. We will be in-person on Friday, May 28th as that will be our last day of school. We will dismiss at 1 pm on both days.

Making up our days in May will allow us to keep some days off during the long winter months.

My Story, R Family
Roncalli senior and St. Jude graduate, Hayden Bean, was featured in last week's My Story, R Family. We love when students find their passions at RHS, and Hayden has done just that when it comes to his music! We cannot wait to see where his gifts and talents take him in life, and the ending of this video gives us all a little taste of his musical skills!
