Rocket Report

Vol. 3, No. 8, September 27, 2019
Words with Wilson
One of my favorite quotes comes from Luke, “To whom much is given, much is required.”  I feel truly blessed to be given the opportunity to lead St. Roch Catholic School. It is an honor that I take seriously, and I strive through my actions each day to thank God for the opportunity that he has given me.

Roch-a-thon is always one of my favorite days of the year.  It is a reminder of what I love about St. Roch Catholic School.  I love that I have the gift to fully practice my faith with everyone I encounter  each day. I love our students who are always eager to learn and grow. Their smiles, hugs and laughter fuel my soul.  I love our parents, and the love and support they show our students, teachers and staff. I love our parish. The parishioners are always generous, and constantly looking for ways to help at our school.

What a great day to be a Rocket!
Roch-a-Thon Success
We would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to all those supporters of our annual Roch-a-Thon! Our goal for this year was $22,000, but in true Rocket fashion we met and passed that goal! Our final total (as of the writing of this article) is $26,955.00 !!!

Our top three students bringing in donations were:
Mia Thornburg
Eliza Newton
Mike and Joel Riedeman

Our top donation class was Pre-K, they will be making their way to Chuck E’ Cheese in the near future for a celebration.

The highlight of Roch-a-thon for this year was the Family Celebration sponsored by our PTO last night. The music, the games, the dancing, the campers, the s’mores, and the fellowship made it an amazing evening. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Fields, Mr. and Mrs. Hammans, and Mr. and Mrs. McGuire for bringing their campers. Thank you to the PTO for organizing the parents to bring corn hole, fire pits, other games, and the supplies for s’mores! Thank you to the PTO for scheduling Kona Ice to visit the party! Finally thank you to all the families who came out to party. We heard from the Madden’s and the Riedeman’s that our music and fun could be heard from blocks away!

In closing, please know that the community spirit and generosity of the members of the parish and school are the two things that make Saint Roch a special place to attend Mass and educate your children. Thank you for making Saint Roch a special place!

Boys Basketball Registration
Boys basketball registration is now open! Until Friday, September 27th. Please note because of our required team submissions to CYO, there will be NO LATE REGISTRATIONS, NO EXCEPTIONS. We hope everyone understands that the amount of teams we enter, we pay for each. Additionally, having any late registrations completely changes how we divide and make up our teams. So please understand the reasoning for this policy. Thank you.

The fee to play is $95.00 and this includes the use of a basketball uniform. You will not pay through the CYO system, but you still must register through CYO system.  We will add your basketball fees to you FACTS account as an incidental billing on September 27th. You will have 2 weeks to pay without incurring a late fee. This is another way we hope to streamline all billing for our families at St. Roch.

If you are interested in coaching a team, please contact Jeff Borders no later than September 15th by email to: . There will be a coaches meeting the week of the 16th. Thank you!
