Words with Wilson
Today at Mass, Father Hunter began, as we always do,  with the sign of the cross. When the students went to respond with their “Amen,” they were a little flat.  Father Hunter kindly prompted them and they tried it again. The response was much more lively. He spoke during his homily, and encouraged the students to proclaim their “yes” loudly and proudly.  He reminded them that they were saying “yes” to Jesus being present in their lives, “yes” that Jesus drives their decisions, and “yes” that we are awake and alive to be a part of this beauty that we are given each day.

This was a powerful moment for me.  The students were engaged and truly listening to his message. The message seemed simple and yet so powerful at the same time.  It was a great reminder to me that I too must loudly and proudly say “yes” each day to love and serve as Jesus would. I am blessed to come to school each day and to be able to help shape the lives of the students we serve at St. Roch.  My best days, however, are the days that through their simple actions, I learn and grow also.

Students love our interactive Bricks 4 Kidz models! This unit is all about the fun of exploring and experimenting with what they’ve built. From a motorized optical illusion machine to a spin art model, kids will love playing with their creations! But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning, too – understanding probability in the “3-in-a-row” game model and learning about friction and symmetry with the spinning top lesson. The students will also have a blast constructing a mini-figure launcher, learning about gear ratios with the paper crinkler model, and competing with their friends with the battle tops machine! Don’t miss out! Please join us as we learn, build, and play with LEGO bricks!! Visit  www.indybricks.net  to register today.
