Vol. 2, No. 21, January 18, 2019
No School Monday, January 21st
Words with Wilson
We have had an exciting week at St. Roch Catholic School. This week we held both our Geography Bee and our Spelling Bee.

On Tuesday, we had forty students compete in our Geography Bee. The first round was taken as a test, and the highest scores competed for the title, in a series of questions that they answered orally. The final seven did an outstanding job with some very tough questions. In the end, it came down to 7th graders Brady Rossman and Chase Monroe competing for the championship. Chase went on to take the title. He had only missed one question on the preliminary test!

Congratulations to all of our competitors, with special congratulations to our 2019 Champion, Chase Monroe. Students who finished in the top seven include: Brady Rossman(runner-up), Lachlan Borders, Quinn O’Brien, Drew Patrick , Austin Bradley and Landon Ambrosia Robinson. Please be sure to read next week’s article for an update on our Spelling Bee Class Champions and Overall School Champion Way to go Rockets!

But don’t worry, we sneak in lots of learning, too – understanding probability in the “3-in-a-row” game model and learning about friction and symmetry with the spinning top lesson. The students will also have a blast constructing a mini-figure launcher, learning about gear ratios with the paper crinkler model, and competing with their friends with the battle tops machine! Don’t miss out! Please join us as we learn, build, and play with LEGO bricks!! Visit  www.indybricks.net  to register today.
