Rocket Report

Vol. 3, No. 22, January 24, 2020
Words with Wilson
On Sunday we kick off Catholic Schools Week 2020. This is one of my favorite weeks of the school year. Everyday that I get to spend at St. Roch Catholic School is a day that I feel blessed. I am so proud to be the principal of such a wonderful institution. It is very easy to write about why I am proud to be the principal. I could go on and on, but instead, I will give you my top five .

  • Our great students make me proud each day. They are the heartbeat of our school. Our building is alive with love and laughter. They work hard and are kind to each other. I am proud of all of our students.
  • We are blessed with supportive parents. Our parents sacrifice each day to send their children to our school, and we appreciate them very much. They show their support through their kind words, volunteering for the various programs we need help with and helping our students grow in faith and love by their example.
  • The teachers and support staff are out of this world. They come early and stay late. Learning at St. Roch Catholic School is fun and engaging because our teachers put so much time and energy into their lessons. Most importantly, our staff love our students, and that means more than the curriculum they teach them everyday. Our teachers and support staff work hard everyday to make our students feel loved and appreciated so that they can learn and grow.
  • We put our faith first in all that we do. Our school motto is ‘Trust God, Work Hard and Work Together.’ Each day the students and staff live this motto. Our faith in God is what drives our decisions. It is such a proud feeling to be able to work in a place that allows you to share your faith freely.
  • We are blessed with an overwhelming amount of support from our parish and our community. They are very generous, and we always feel their love and support whether it be monetary or through service and prayer.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make to send your children to St. Roch Catholic School. I appreciate the trust that you place in us, and wish everyone a very enjoyable Catholic Schools Week!

Re-enrollment is now open for all of our returning families. You should have received an email with instructions on how to complete the re-enrollment process. Everything will be ran through our FACTS system. We have had a few questions that are addressed below in order to help everyone understand this new process. Please address any additional questions to Mrs. Littell via email -
Parent FAQ's
How do I re-enroll my child?
To re-enroll please visit and log in to the family portal as a parent. (Contact Mrs.Littell by email if you are having any issues with this.) Once logged in there should be a menu on the left for enrollment. All eligible students in your family should be listed. If you have a child at home that is eligible for kindergarten or pre-k they should also be listed as an option for registration. You are welcome to register them at this time as they would fall into our returning family category. If you have an eligible student that is not listed and you would like to enroll them please contact Mrs. Littell.

What is the District Code when logging into FACTS?

Has tuition for next year been set?
No, tuition is not yet established for the 2020-2021 school year. A slight increase is expected. Please refer to our current tuition rates in order to estimate your upcoming tuition. Click here to view current tuition.

How much is the Registration Fee and when is it due?
The registration fee is $100 per student and due at the time of registration. However, if you are unable to pay the fee at this time, it is still encouraged to begin the registration process and then return to it once you are able to pay the fee. All registration fees should be paid no later than April 1st, 2020. Your child will not be registered until this fee has been paid.

What is the FACTS Tuition Enrollment Fee?
FACTS charges a fee in order to manage your tuition plan. During re-enrollment you will be asked to select a payment plan for your tuition. Depending on the plan you choose the fee will be in the amount of either $20 or $50 (per family). This fee will not be immediately charged at the time you choose your payment plan. It will only be charged once your tuition is established and posted. If you will be receiving financial aid, an SGO and/or a Voucher that covers the entire cost of your tuition then the fee will be automatically omitted. The fee will only be charged if you have a remaining balance, once all financial aid has been applied, and when your tuition plan goes into effect.

Rebel Club

What is Rebel Club?
Rebel Club is a spring basketball team for young men currently in grades 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. Rebel Club teams practice twice a week, and play most weekends. The team will stay together at a minimum up to SPRING BREAK.
Who can try out for Rebel Club?
Any boy in grades 5th-8th that currently is enrolled in any one of our South Deanery school feeder schools and any 8th grader that is planning on attending Roncalli High School.
How many are on each team?
We keep approximately 10 on each team.
Is there a cost for Rebel Club?
The cost for Rebel Club is $150. This cost will go to cover leagues, tournaments, uniforms, and gym rental if necessary. This money will also cover any cost incurred by our coaches. This is NOT a fundraiser or money maker for the basketball program. All money is used and allocated for specific purposes.
What is the time commitment for Rebel Club?
Starting with tryouts (January 26th), the team will practice twice a week at Roncalli. 5th and 6th graders will play in a league on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and 7th and 8th graders will play in a league on Sunday afternoons. There will also be tournaments that we play in locally. Tournaments in the past have been at places like Shelbyville and Greenfield.
What if my son’s team is still playing in the CYO tournament?
Your son’s school team is the first priority. He can practice and or play with the Rebel Club whenever there is not a conflict, and then join the Rebel Club team full time once the CYO season is finished.
What if my son plays baseball or CYO volleyball?
We ask that if your son tries out for Rebel Club he is able to commit to it until Spring Break. At that point, most teams either disband or decide if they have enough to keep playing.

What if my son has a CYO tournament game during tryouts?
We believe we have scheduled the tryouts around all South Deanery school tournament games so everyone can make tryouts. If we have missed one, please let us know and we can make other arrangements.

Who would be coaching my son’s team?

5th Grade - Matt Dillion - 98 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, tons of experience in youth coaching
6th Grade - Chad Ramsey - 16 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, has experience coaching both CYO and Rebel Club
7th Grade - Chris Fey - 14 RHS Grade, former Rebel basketball player, current assistant on the Rebel freshmen team
8th Grade - John Hasty - 08 RHS Grad, former Rebel basketball player, current varsity assistant at RHS
All parents of current eighth grade students who are planning to attend Roncalli High School next year are invited to our annual Curriculum Meeting for 8th Grade Parents on Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00 PM in the RHS auditorium. This informative presentation consistently has received strong, positive reviews from parents. Please plan to join us!
