Heroes Cup

When: September 4-6
Join in as the community welcomes our Wounded Soldiers around 3pm on September 4, with a Patriotic wave of support as they travel through Rockport-Fulton to their hotel. Put out your American Flag and let them know we appreciate their service for what we all hold dear - OUR FREEDOM!  ! Warrior's Weekend is filled with a good ole South Texas Welcome by all the surrounding towns waving on the streets, shutting down highways, waving flags and showing them our community's hospitality by giving them a few days of relaxing rest and fun.
31st HummerBird Celebration

When: September 19-22
Join us for the 31st Annual Hummerbird Celebration September 19 - 22. This year we are back and better than ever, featuring over 75 vendors more than 12 speakers and a variety of nature inspired field trips on land and sea. The Celebration is fun, educational and inspiring. It is designed for those who enjoy bird watching as well as those who follow the migration patterns. If you enjoy nature, birds or some aspect of them, then this event is for you.
ZaZu Fishing and Fun

When: September 28
Come spend a day with family and friends, fishing on Copano Bay, followed by an evening enjoying great food, live music, and more! All event proceeds help underwrite the cost of camp for children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses.
Don’t fish? No worries! You can buy tickets for only the evening festivities!

State Park:
Goose Island pier is closed but fishing is available at Day Use Area, Boat Ramp, and West Side.

Open marinas:
Cove Harbor Marina, Copano Causeway Ramp and Boat Launch, Rockport Beach Park, and Fulton Harbor and Cove Harbor Marina.
Birds are Flying High

Birding Migration:
From the Gulf of Mexico to beaches, bays and estuaries and inland woods, prairies and fields, one will find extraordinary birding throughout Aransas County. We have 10 birding sites on the Great Texas Birding Trail.

From November to March, the world's only wild flock of over 500 endangered Whooping Cranes calls the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge home.

Aransas Pathways
Aransas Pathways, an organization that promotes, birding, history, kayaking and hike and bike trails, has put together an early event to intrigue Hummerbird Celebration attendees to find their best "poker hand" by encouraging them to visit birding sites around the community collecting cards. The winner will receive a pair of Eagle Optics Kingbird 6.5 x 32 Binocular s. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Aransas Pathways Pavilion, just off of Hwy 35 at the northern entrance to Walmart.Free and opento the public. FMI email:

Rockport-Fulton Market Days
September 20-22: Over 160 booths filled with great vendors, over a dozen food vendors, 3 days of live music, covered seating and as always, a pet friendly environment! EVERY 3RD FULL WEEKEND OF EVERY MONTH. Open Friday with select vendors and early bird specials from 12-5, Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 10-4. Texas Maritime Museum - Education Center
September 11: Home-school Days, 10 AM to 12 PM (grades 1-4) and 1-3 PM (grades 5-8). The title is Seasons Change: A Sailor’s Calendar. The class will feature a lesson on how seasonal changes impact sailors, a craft, a snack, and a tour of the museum. Cost is $8 and registration can be completed at TMM website . September 21: Pirate Practice, 11 AM-2 PM. This exciting event offers an opportunity for children to live the life of a pirate, including walking the plank, making a hook hand, and following a treasure map. Rockport Center for the Arts 
September 6 - Rockport Center for the Arts opens its fall season of shows with an exhibit featuring new, sculptural works by Greg Reuter; who lives and works in Corpus Christi, Texas. In Fundamental Facets , Reuter returns to his roots in ceramics and coastal subject matter. Reuter’s work is an homage to every facet of living in South Texas. On display until October 12.
September 14 - 5 PM - Rockport Arts on Fire - Iron Pour. Event opens at 5pm. First Iron Pour is at 7pm - Iron is melted in a specially-designed furnace, called a cupola. Fuel, or coke, is added to begin the heating process. Once the furnace is up to temperature, pieces of iron and additional coke are gradually added through the top of the cupola. As iron melts, it collects around a tap at the bottom of the furnace. When enough iron is melted, the tap is opened and the hot iron flows down a channel into a ladle. A metal arts crew, consisting of five artists will pour the molten iron into scratch blocks, which participants will have had the opportunity to carve with their own designs. Once the blocks cool, the hardened designs will be released, and participants will have souvenirs ready to take home with them that same night. Scratch Book Sales begin at 5pm. Supply is limited.
September 7 - 10am - 4pm Rockport Art Loop. 10 art spaces have simultaneous openings in one night for an al fresco art experience.
Starting September 7 -10 AM to 4 PM every Saturday. Free Family Saturdays during the school year. Stop by the Art Center any Saturday during the school year and make an original work of art with your children. Each Saturday will feature a different project. Most projects take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour each. You may drop in anytime between 10 and 4. All are welcome! An adult must accompany all children.

September 17: 12-1 pm, Brown Bag “ Fall Vegetable Gardening”
Learn a lot in just one hour at this free program hosted by the Aransas/San Patricio Master Gardeners and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Aransas County Office. It is not necessary to register, just come and enjoy. Feel free to bring your own brown bag lunch. The program is held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service-Aransas County Office, 892 Airport Road, Rockport. Overflow parking is next door at the Transfer Station. The pool and park are now open at 9AM (Tues-Sat). Admission is $5. Classes include: Water Aerobics, Water Walking and Lap Swim. The park houses an 8 Lane, 25 yard pool (heated to 86 degrees) and diving area, a bathhouse, towel warmer and swimsuit dryer. Fulton Schoolhouse Museum
The Schoolhouse Museum is the original one-room schoolhouse of Fulton, TX that was rebuilt in the 1940's after being damaged by a hurricane. Visitors to the museum will experience a sense of what education was like from a bygone era. Expect to see the schoolhouse as it was originally set up along with numerous original artifacts of that era. Free tours but items are available for purchase, such as note cards, bookmarkers and all donations are accepted, as well. Open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1–4 PM, and for groups of four or more any time (or by appointment, call 361-729-5533). The Aquarium at Rockport Harbor - Education Center
The Aquarium at Rockport Harbor Education Center offers a multitude of events throughout the year. All events are free at this time but donations are always welcome to help support the Aquarium. Open Daily 1pm - 4pm ~ Closed Tuesday & Wednesday. Visit our website for more information.

Goose Island State Park 
Goose Island State Park is open 7 days a week from 8 AM-10 PM. Park Headquarters is staffed 7 days a week from 8 AM-5 PM. For more information, visit , or call 361-729-2858.
The wooded area of Goose Island State Park is open for overnight RV and tent camping. The boat ramp, fish cleaning station, nature trail, picnic area, and West Bayfront are available for day use. There is no Bayfront camping at this time and the fishing pier and East Bayfront remain closed. Park operating hours are 8 AM-10 PM.
While at Goose Island, be sure to visit one of the most famous live oaks in the world, the "Big Tree" estimated to be centuries old.

Aransas National Wildlife Refuge
Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is open daily from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. The Visitor Contact Station is closed Monday-Tuesday and open Wednesday-Sunday, 9 AM-4 PM. Come hike a trail, fish off the pier or from your kayak, or drive the 16 mile auto tour. FMI, call 361-349-1181 or visit  or .
