To say that 2020 has been a tough year thus far would be an understatement.  For most of us, our occupancy levels and RevPAR (revenue per available room) have declined significantly since the world was hit with the Covid-19 pandemic early in the year.  People were ordered to stay at home and the travel industry took a big hit.

You experienced it.  We experienced it.

As your elected Board of Directors for the Rodeway Inn hotels, we have each experienced your pain in our own hotels.  And we have also listened to many of your struggles.  We can and will get through this together. 
 
To help you best service guests, the Rodeway Inn Board of Directors will be sending your property two (2) cases of hand sanitizer.

We know that you’re working hard to take care of your guests as they return to travel. We meet with Choice leadership regularly and discuss ways to cut costs and programs to help your hotels move forward through these difficult times. We believe we are on the road to recovery.  The new advertising and Commitment to Clean (C2C) initiative are two ways Choice will help travelers feel good about hitting the road again and staying at our hotels. We encourage you to participate in the C2C program.  Guests demand clean hotel rooms now, more than ever.

Join AHLA to Support our Industry
The American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) has worked tirelessly since the start of the pandemic to represent our industry on Capitol Hill. They are talking with elected officials at all levels of the government across the country and advocating for urgent assistance. One program is the Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program for hotels and the people working in the hotel sector.

ROA supports AHLA’s efforts for the industry and encourages you to consider joining AHLA to support the critical work that they do. Dues are $2.50 per room per year for economy properties (Econo Lodge® and Rodeway Inn® hotels). Guest Relations and Reputation Management Fees-50% Off
Early in the COVID-19 crisis, Choice paused Guest Relations and Reputation Management Fees and later extended that policy through the end of August.

Beginning in September, they will begin a phased approach to reinstate these fees, initially at half the normal charge. As always, resolving any issues while the guest is at the hotel should be a top priority and should remain the focus of your efforts.


New Face Coverings Requirement Now In Effect
Choice Joins Industry in Requiring Face Coverings 

Beginning August 17, 2020, as part of our Commitment to Clean initiative, Choice Hotels now requires the use of face coverings in the common areas of all franchised hotels. 
The public health guidance is clear: the use of face coverings is an important and simple step everyone can take to help protect the safety of guests, your employees and visitors by slowing the transmission of COVID-19.

Expedia Change in Booking Notifications
Beginning August 25, Expedia is eliminating the use of fax as a method to receive booking notifications, commonly referred to as “fax fails.” If your hotel is currently using this option, please follow these steps to update your booking notification settings with a valid email address directly on Expedia’s extranet.

C2C - Heightened cleaning protocols
We’re providing guidance for heightened cleaning protocols for high-traffic areas such as the front desk, fitness centers and pools, as well as other high-touch surfaces throughout the hotel, using hospital-grade disinfectant approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to combat the spread of COVID-19.
