Manitoba/Saskatchewan Sire Profiles

Sixteen Manitoba and Saskatchewan thoroughbred sires have registered for the lucrative breeding programs offered by CTHS Manitoba. We continue our sire profiles this week with Speculating and Red Knobs. There will be an excellent selection of stallions to choose from this spring for Manitoba mare owners.

Speculating's first crop of 3-year-olds will be at the track this year.

2025 Gotham Stakes at a Glance

The Gotham Stakes can put the winner in the field for the 2025 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve. Yet even with those 50 qualifying points on the line, Saturday’s Gotham is not your typical run for the roses prep at this time of year.

Contested over a one-turn mile at Aqueduct, the Gotham could provide the necessary points, but may also leave some unresolved question’s about a 3-year-old’s ability to handle the 1 ¼-mile distance on the first Saturday in May. ~ America's Best Racing

The Best of Bob by Bob Gates

From July 24, 2020: Alfred G. Tarn: Rosser Pig Farmer Turned World Class Horseman

For this week, Bob has uncovered a gem. His research took him back 100 years, but he found a Rosser pig farmer turned world-class horseman that was the second-leading trainer in all of North America in 1936. In addition, our mystery man was the father-in-law of Alberta-born jockey Johnny Longden. Click here for Bob’s story.
