Save the Rohingya campaign

Efforts for Rohingya relief have gained momentum as  volunteers from the US, London and Pakistan are joining  in to help the Humanitarian Assistance Program, powered by OBAT.
Todd Shea from CDRS (Comprehensive Disaster Recovery Services)  has joined the team of volunteers along with Mr. Hassan and  Ms. Faiza Taqi Hassan and Jolnar Sanaa, all of whom are  actively extending help for the Rohingya aid project. The next project in the works is setting up of one hundred schools or learning centers for the Rohingya kids as sixty percent of the refugees comprise of children. Three sites have been identified so far for these spaces and teachers have been identified and trained for these schools. The medical camps staffed by competent doctors, continue to offer much needed health care as many refugees struggle with various health issues due to their daunting circumstances. The hunger relief program also continues to address the severe lack of food and nutrition

Please join us as we progress toward fulfilling our remaining  fundraising goal of $150,000 for the Rohingya and alleviate the  distressful conditions being faced by this very vulnerable  population. Every bit of help counts and the more people that  join hands, the more resources will be available to address this crisis. Help us reach our goal by November 20th!

International Day of the Girl Child

The International Day Of the Girl Child was observed on October 11th by OBAT Helpers, Syedpur.  Many of the teachers and students present were given the opportunity to share their thoughts about  the contribution of the girl child and why  it was important to observe this day. Participants  also talked about the value of education for girls  and the importance of their role in society and in building the strength of nations.
Saiban
First OBAT Scholarship Student to go to China for further study

Saiban Islam is a resident of Rangpur 
camp and a beneficiary of OBAT's scholarship program.  The Chinese government recently selected 
five hundred and twenty-five students from the Bangladesh  Polytechnic Institute to study for a higher diploma in Engineering in China. Saiban is one of those students. He was studying at the Polytechnic Institute  with the assistance  of a scholarship from OBAT and will be the first student from the  scholarship program to go abroad for further study. We are very proud of him and wish him great success in the future.

World Teachers Day celebrated in Syedpur

The OBAT Syedpur office celebrated World
Teacher's Day on October 5th. All the hardworking teachers and students from Syedpur  educational program participated in this event.  Some of the students and teachers shared their thoughts with those gathered for the occasion.  Gifts were presented to all the teachers as a token of gratitude for their immense contribution and service.
The teachers at OBAT's projects are certainly a huge asset for the organization.

Global Hand Washing Day

The Global Handwashing day was observed in most of the OBAT projects in Bangladesh to teach the students the value of proper hygiene habits and the decreased risk of diseases been transmitted in this manner.
