Dr. Morris Kalliny becomes RCB interim dean

A big part of the Rohrer College of Business (RCB) since 2018, first as associate dean and professor of marketing and then as senior associate dean, Dr. Morris Kalliny since July has held a new position: interim dean.

Deeply involved with operations since he joined RCB, Kalliny has handled a range of functions, from curriculum and reaccreditation to hiring nearly 40 percent of the current faculty and staff.

“For the last eight years, I have been preparing for this position,” he said.

As interim dean, he’s focused on College expansion and reputation building.

“We plan on building new programs, hiring more great faculty and expanding our entrepreneurial experience on campus,” Kalliny said. “We hope to unfold our new strategic plan this fall and finalize plans for a new College direction by December.”

Other goals include establishing an advisory council for the graduate studies programs and strengthening centers within the RCB. 

Rohrer College of Business completes rigorous AACSB reaccreditation

Rowan University’s William G. Rohrer College of Business (RCB) received reaccreditation in June through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), an international body that applies rigorous standards to all facets of business education.

RCB Acting Dean Dr. Morris Kalliny said the AACSB’s reaccreditation, which must be completed every five years, examined all aspects of college operations including teaching and research, curriculum, degree relevance in the job market and the college’s societal impact.

“Reaccreditation is a reflection on all you offer,” Kalliny said.



The college, which in 2022-23 celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding, was recognized the past two years by The Princeton Review for an entrepreneurship program that is among the best 50 in the U.S.

Fortunato, indeed! Goat gets a leg up - actually two - thanks to Rowan student engineers

His name, Fortunato, means “lucky” in Italian.

And that is exactly what a young Nigerian dwarf goat is…thanks to the hard work and creativity of two Rowan University mechanical engineering majors.

In the spring, Addison Deckert and Vince Gallo accepted a challenge from Dr. Matthew Edson, founding dean of the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, to develop prosthetic hind legs for the goat.

Deckert and Gallo both work as lab technicians in Studio 231, the student-led and student-run experiential learning lab and makerspace in the William G. Rohrer College of Business.

“Working here gives you a lot of experiences you wouldn’t have anywhere else,” Gallo said with understatement. “Most of the things we deal with don’t have a life to it.”

Fortunato was born with septic arthritis, an infection that affected the development of his rear legs and hooves. Shunned by his mother, he didn’t receive the colostrum—or first milk—that can help fend off diseases. His owners did not want to euthanize him and made him a house goat, bottle feeding him and wrapping his rear legs in cast padding, topped by veterinary wrap.

RCB fellowship program funds MBA and MS Finance students committed to business for the greater good

In a rare, valuable and community-focused program, the Rohrer College of Business (RCB) funds graduate students whose ideals and career goals align with the college’s emphasis on business for the greater good.

This year’s RCB fellows cohort have some or all their tuition paid for through the William G. Rohrer Charitable Foundation and are paired with organizations that aspire to better humanity and/or the environment.

“We seek people who want to be a change agent, who want to create positive societal impact,” said RCB Assistant Dean and MBA Director Jennifer Maden.

Launched in 2021 and expanded this year, the RCB Fellowship Program pairs participating Master of Business Administration and Master of Finance students with organizations in which students utilize growing business expertise while building experience.

Look how far we've come! Celebrating 100 years of transformation.

On Sept. 4, 1923, Rowan University opened its doors as Glassboro Normal School, then a training ground for South Jersey’s elementary school teachers. 

A century later, the institution is among the nation's top 100 public research universities—and it’s the third fastest-growing, serving 22,000 students.

The University-wide Centennial Committee will roll out more highlights, event information and limited-edition commemoratives as we officially launch the year’s programming this fall.
