Grant Road Coalition Re-Activates
Meetings to begin Nov 30
| | |
Join our Central Segments meeting focusing on Phase 5/6 Grant Road Expansion.
Monday, November 30th at 5:30 - Ward 3 Community Room
Grant Road Coalition “Central Segments” represents the contiguous neighborhoods of the “Central Segments”, including Campbell/Grant Neighborhood, Catalina Vista Historic Neighborhood, Jefferson Park Historic District, Mountain/First Neighborhood, and SAMOS Neighborhood, advocating for community improvements supported by local agreements and national research. Participating in partnerships to repurpose remnants, create critical green space, provide research and secure funding.
We’ll advocate for things such as Noise Walls, Linear Parks- continuation of Health and Heritage Trail, expansion of Triangle Park, and also maintaining historic designation.
Initially, we’ll meet monthly and perhaps more often as the Grant Road project progresses.”
To see the work of the coalition go to https://www.grantroadcoalition.com

Grant Road ---- Noise Walls next to you?
They will protect you and the neighbors behind you!
| | |
NOT ALL ELIGIBLE RESPONDED! - As part of Grant Road Widening project, the city performed noise studies resulting in potential Noise Walls in front of certain Jefferson Park homes on Grant Road between Highland and Campbell.
STARS indicate parcels along the south side (Jeff Park side) where folks have voted for the walls. Some folks did not get the message. It takes 50%+1 of each section voting yes in order to have the walls erected.
If you have questions about voting, location or style of Noise Walls, please contact Lindsey at Lindsey.Salcido@tucsonaz.gov or 520-627-1611.

| | | TEP - What is the bottom line? | |
Demolishing the maintenance facilities and a building the Vine Substation - Yes, they can do that legally.
Using their chosen route through our neighborhood and others - Yes, they can do that legally.
Overheading the lines through the neighborhood There is currently a suit brought by individuals against the city for allowing the overhead lines in spite of the UA Area Plan that calls for undergrounding whenever possible. What happens to this very important part of the project remains to be seen.

The neighborhood committee continues to work with Parks and Recreation to keep up with the landscaping and trimming, and the longer term project, installation of additional lighting in the park.
A bench divider has been installed on the memorial bench--discourages napping. Recently, irrigation leaks were reported and addressed. Several issues of graffiti were also reported.
| | These signs ARE a code violation! | | |
"Code Enforcement is actively working on this issue, but they have asked for our partnership and patience as they have to prioritize their caseload based on immediate health and safety risks first.
Code Enforcement did not previously have the full list of impacted addresses, so thank you for providing that list. For the locations they did have on file, I understand that they have issued notices of violation. Further, because this involves an extensive list of properties with the same owner and substantially similar violations, they have added specific language to those notices stating that any other properties found with the same violation may be issued a citation without further warning." (Ward III) So continue reporting!

If you live in Jefferson Park, there should be no helicopters bound for Banner Hospital over your house. Jefferson Park has an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) that all helicopters must enter and leave south of the hospital, unless there's a special emergency or weather factors dictate a change in the flight path.
Place this number in your phone and just call that number-it is quick and easy and helps inform Banner.
Call BUMC Security: 520-694-6533, just give location of helicopter-no need to give your name
