Good Morning,
This week we share Installment 2 of our thanks to Summer Market Vendors. It's a diverse and interesting group; no two alike.
Check out the online offerings at Local Foods Gathered; go to https://www.localgoodsgathered.com/gathered ; All three of our cheese makers are part of this marketing effort to keep Maine's delicious local creameries and other small businesses going in this changing marketplace.
Nothing like fresh flowers to create a sense of well being.
Beautiful and very popular this summer, rind them at Goranson, Hawkes, MictoMainea, Mindful Gardens, Tarbox,.
Shepherds & Such & Sparrow occasionally have them too.
Make it a downtown day after market. Reny's is wide open and well reorganized. Art galleries are ready to greet you. . Books and pet supplies and Maine Made abound. Lunch on the sidewalk or on the river. Don't forget ice cream for all at The Fountain, next to Wilson;s DrugStore.
Enjoy!

Preorder these seductive chevre in olive oil, basil and pignole, and mixed herbs.
From our vendors -Sales, Seasonal, Specials
Pleasant Pond Orchard had some pretty blackberries last week, hopefully more tomorrow. A true come early item.
Mana Medicinals suggests the large bottle of Turmeric Tonic to ensure regular and easy, not to mention tasty, attention to your immune system!
Mainely Poultry was out of ground chicken and turkey when I arrived last week, so I splurged on ground duck; that resulted in an astounding chili and and a wicked good burger. Meatballs next!

Mohammed of New Roots offers a CSA as well as all those crisp vegetables.
|
Appleton Creamery is taking orders on Wednesday only now. Be sure to preorder popular marinated chevres and logs. It's close to the end of goat milk season, so supplies will be limited.
Pick up a package of lemon balm and some cukes at Sparrow for a simple salad, add a few young onions, tomatoes, some of that skinny pink celery at Hawkes. Dress and enjoy.
Those tempting tomatillos and green tomatoes at Goranson add nice balance to a number of dishes. Try a salsa verde, or chopped green tomatoes on fresh pasta- available at Alchimia.. Yum

Larry at Pleasant Pond Orchard, offers summer berries (and maybe some stone fruit) while we wait for the apples

Hahn' End is cookin'! Their third new cheese in a month has arrived. The aptly named Midsummer Nights Dream. Described as having "a dense texture, thin rind, and the flavor of cultured buttermilk." Try broiled on a baguette and serve with fruit and sliced meats.
Pemaquid is offering sea clam cakes, basically hard shell clams not steamers. A tasty addition to their premade list. Preordering is key here - fresh catch and popular salmon go quickly- call 350 -7054 by Thursday please
It's a feast of peppers at Tarbox: Sweet Bells, Shishito, Ancho, and stunning red Italian frying peppers. Lets hear it for diversity in cooking!

Dan at Big Barn Coffee, is market treasurer and works with the SNAP volunteers
Gracies Garden has several carrot mixes looking great right now. Swedish, Shaker and Django's Ginger all look - and taste - lovely.
Mindful Gardens is bringing in some new baskets; it helps to talk to them about your want so they can make one just for you. You can also preorder cut flowers if you need something special
