Congratulations to the Happy Couple Recently Engaged on Board the SS United States !

Since moving to South Philly, Casey Reeve, 29, and Maurie "Mo" Smith, 30, have been enamored with the SS United States . Mo grew up in West Philadelphia, while Casey spent his childhood in Shelter Island, NY, surrounded by the ocean and maritime culture.

This October, Casey worked with the Conservancy to devise a top-secret plan: bring Mo on board the SS United States and conclude the visit with a romantic proposal on the ship's bow. Needless to say, the surprise proposal went off without a hitch. We wish Mo and Casey “smooth sailing” as they embark upon the rest of their lives together. On Saturday, November 11th, the New York Chapter will be marching in the New York Veterans Day Parade to honor all the brave men and women who have served our nation, and to celebrate the Big U’s career as a defense asset and convertible troopship, ready to serve her nation if duty ever called.
