RONCALLI HIGH SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

March 14, 2025

► BREAKING NEWS

RONCALLI FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE - DEADLINE MARCH 15, 2025

Roncalli offers private financial assistance that works in conjunction with the Indiana Choice Scholarship program. Financial assistance is awarded based on the level of need after the Indiana Choice Scholarship amount has been determined. Once all family data has been collected, it will be analyzed by our third-party evaluation service, Blackbaud Financial Assistance, and returned to Roncalli with a financial assistance recommendation. The funds available for this assistance come from Roncalli and the Catholic community, not Blackbaud.

To apply for Roncalli financial assistance, please complete the online application at: https://studentfinancialaid.blackbaud.school. The application deadline for the first distribution of Roncalli assistance is MARCH 15, 2025, after which a reduction in financial assistance may be implemented. Please keep in mind that a copy of your 2024 Federal Income Tax Return, W-2s, most recent pay stubs and documentation of any other income must accompany your application, and Blackbaud charges a fee to process your application. NOTE: You do NOT need to complete this financial assistance application to receive the Indiana Choice Scholarship.

Roncalli grants financial assistance based upon the availability of budgeted funds and the level of need of each family requesting assistance. A family must be a supporting member of a Catholic parish or your student must have attended a Catholic school for a minimum of three years to be eligible for Roncalli’s financial assistance. These criteria are NOT applicable to the Indiana Choice Scholarship. All families applying for financial assistance by March 15 will receive a letter notifying them of the award determination in May 2025. Any assistance received will be uploaded into Tuition Management in time for the July 10 payment.

If you have any questions about any of this information, please feel free to contact the director of tuition assistance, Julie Gantner, at jgantner@roncalli.org.

BOYS TRACK & FIELD NATIONAL INDOOR QUALIFIERS

Vaught

Huff, Litz, Vaught and Lewis

Litz, Vaught, Lewis and Buchmeier

The boys track and field team wrapped up the indoor portion of their season with an awe-inspiring performance.

Leading the way was the distance medley relay team placing 3rd: Owen Lewis, Cole Huff, Anthony Litz and Will Lewis.

The 4X400m relay placed 6th: Ben Swiezy, Jim Buchmeier, Dylan Guthrie and Sam Smith.

Dom Nelson PR in the shot to place 7th.

The 4X200 placed 8th: Alex Beard, Liam Kidwell, Jacob Johnson and Alex Toth

Next up for the boys: Sam Vaught is competing this Sunday in the mile at the Indoor National Championship in Boston. The team also has two relays qualified for the Indoor State Championship over Spring Break: 4X400m (Lewis, Litz, Huff and Vaught) and the 4X800m (Lewis, Litz, Buchmeier, Vaught).

GYMNASTICS AT REGIONALS

The Royals finished fourth as a team in a tough Regional, falling behind Columbus North, New Palestine and Bloomington North.

Freshman Emiko Vecchio placed fourth on the beam, making her a state qualifier. She missed all-around by one place. Such a great accomplishment!

Emiko will continue her season at Ball State tomorrow, Saturday, March 15, at the state competition. Go, Emiko - we are proud of you!

FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Row 1: John Malan, Eva Aguayo Martinez, Callie Elrod and Jesus Garcia

Row 2: Giovanni Serrano-Rivera, Ivan Figueroa, Chris Griffin, Lola Neitzke and Peyton Cole

Not pictured: Phelan Sloan

On Monday, we celebrated the outstanding students of the month for February. They were awarded certificates and treated to a catered luncheon for their exceptional work inside the classroom.

UNIFIED BOWLING SECTIONAL

Twenty-two bowlers competed in the 2025 Unified Bowling Sectional last week. This was Roncalli's largest team ever! We missed qualifying for state, but everyone had fun. Several bowlers, including Za Thang, Reagan Turk, Diego Miranda, Madelyn Kitchens and Claire Meinerding, had triple-digit scores. Jim Buchmeier was one pin shy of a turkey. The unified bowling team looks forward to next year’s tournament.

SPEECH AT STATE

The state speech tournament took place at Fishers High School on March 8th. Everyone who qualified is, by definition, in the top 42 in the state for their event.

Izzy Ahaus (Original Performance), Mary Motyka (Original Performance) and Elizabeth Nelson (Discussion) competed. Mary made it to the quarterfinals, ranking in the top 24 for Original Performance.

Congratulations on a job well done Royal speech team members!

MOCK TRAIL AT STATE

The mock trial team did great at the state competition last Saturday! Overall team results and scores are not in, but Roncalli had three individual award winners:

Sarah Jasheway - Best Witness

Audrey May - Best Attorney

Cylie Henson - Best Attorney and Best Witness

ARCHERY TEAM AT STATE & GOING TO NATIONALS

The archery team had a strong showing at the state tournament on March 8th. They posted their second highest score of the season, assuring a place in the National Bullseye Tournament in May. The team was led by Za Thang, Dana Haggenjos, Alexis Kabat and AJ Susemichel.

In the 3D tournament, Dana Haggenjos and James Deardorff both posted good scores, with Dana placing 8th and securing an invite to the National Tournament.

JUNIOR PROM COURT

County health departments can assist with these vaccinations.

Religious and medical exemptions are allowed. Every school year, a new exemption form must be signed and on file!

  • Alumni of the Year
  • Honorary Alumni
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • St. John XXIII Award
