We are delighted to announce that six members of the Class of 2025 have been named National Merit Semifinalist and National Merit Commended Scholars by The College Board. The National Merit Semifinalist is awarded to the top one percent in the nation, and the commended student status signifies that from the over 1.5 million seniors who took the PSAT last year, these students scored in the top 3% of the country’s brightest seniors.
National Merit Semifinalist Mya Galbreath and National Merit Commended Scholars Joey Evans, Aiden Hill, Claire Nettles, AJ Richardson and Maya Skartvedt make six members of this Roncalli Class of 2025 who have been recognized in what is the most prestigious, competitive academic honors program in the country.
Roncalli is proud of these outstanding students and extends congratulations to their families and elementary schools, who prepared them so well for the vigor of a Roncalli High School education.

RONCALLI NEEDS BUS DRIVERS
The Roncalli High School Transportation Department desperately needs bus drivers to drive our big buses. Drivers need a CDL license to drive these buses. This is a great way to get paid to watch Roncalli's athletics and fine arts events and to help with field trips. If you already have your CDL or are interested in getting yours, please contact transportation director Michael Wantz at mwantz@roncalli.org or 317-787-8277 ext. 284.

The Roncalli swimming and diving team served at The Hope Center, a residential facility for rescued victims of human trafficking near New Palestine, last weekend.
Beth Kegley, group volunteer coordinator, shared, "Wow, what a great group of students! We had a blast with the team on Saturday, and they did an amazing job helping to harvest hundreds of pounds of Thai chilies. The Hope Center partners with Sow and Reap farms who uses two acres on campus to grow these chilies (and lots of other veggies), harvests them with the help of volunteers and then sells them to local restaurants. All of the proceeds are then given to the Hope Center to fund the programming and resources needed for the residents in our programs. It's a great impact that your students were able to play a part in. They were so joyful and fun to be around, and we are so grateful that you chose the Hope Center to send the team to. Thank you!"

Students, parents and guardians, please read the attached pdf regarding SchoolMessenger. You need to opt-in to make sure you are receiving important messages from Roncalli. SMALL GROUP OPPORTUNITIES
The school counselors and social workers would like to offer more support to students by offering small groups during this semester. Groups would meet once per week starting November 4th for 6-8 weeks. Talk with your student(s) to see if this opportunity would be beneficial. Here is the form for your student(s) to fill out if interested:
"Many students find that group helps them to feel a greater sense of connection to others and normalizes what they are going through" (Texas A&M University Health Services)
School policy does not provide for any early start of, or extension to, either fall or spring break. No student will be excused from school on any day(s) the week before or the week after fall or spring break. Any student’s absence on these days will be considered unexcused. An unexcused absence means that one point will be deducted from the student’s cumulative grade in each class at the end of that grading period. Teachers are not required to make special provisions for students who are unexcused. Students absent because of illness on the day(s) preceding and/or immediately following fall or spring break will be required to bring a doctor’s excuse to the Attendance Officer upon their return to school.
