FC Barcelona
The New York Red Bulls hosted FC Barcelona for a friendly on July 30 in front of a sold-out Red Bull Arena. We had 4 VIP tickets to the Red Bulls vs FC Barcelona soccer game and for the first time, took the PATH train from the Oculus transportation hub to the Red Bull Stadium in Harrison. The beautiful new design 25,000 seat Red Bull Arena is a soccer-specific stadium. We had access to the Barca Lounge which had a nice spread of sushi, filet mignon carving station, and other foods and drinks.
Barça came away with a 2-0 victory, scoring a goal in each half. Ousmane Dembélé scored in the first half, with Memphis Depay added the second for FC Barcelona. The New York Red Bulls vs FC Barcelona was a historic friendly match, and the first time the clubs have faced off against each other at Red Bull Arena. Brilliant fireworks were shot-off from the field. We had a great experience, a wonderful day, and so much fun at the exciting Barca match!! Next time we’ll see Barca play in Barcelona at their home stadium. Thank you, FC Barcelona and Catalonia!!

After more than two years of social distancing, it was wonderful to see our travel colleagues and friends at Mulino’s at Lake Isle Country Club. It was wonderful to be together to dine, dance, and have a good time. Congratulations to Ralph Vasami and Jim Killen.
The highlight of the evening for me was a dance with Simone to YMCA!!

WORLD TIGER DAY
Nepal
Nepal, home to diverse floral and faunal species, and natural ecosystems, ranging from the lowland of the Terai region to the high Himalayas has just announced that its tiger population has doubled on the occasion of World Tiger Day, July 29.
According to results from the most recent tiger survey, there are now an estimated 355 wild tigers, nearly more than 190 percent of tigers counted in 2009. In 2009, Nepal had a wild tiger population of approximately 121 tigers which was declining. However, as per its global biodiversity conservation commitment, the country committed to increasing it to 250 by 2022 but the number of tigers has already reached 235 in 2018 and within the last four years it rose by 120. With this rise, Nepal claimed to be the first country in the world to double its tiger population.

Republic of Indonesia – ITS Booth #237
DIGITAL NOMADS
Indonesia is a popular place for nomads and expats to Northern Europeans, Australians, and Americans alike who flock there for its warm weather, beautiful beaches, delicious food, warm culture, and of course affordable living. With more people working remotely from wealthier nations — nations that are suffering under skyrocketing inflation — the allure of an affordable island paradise isn’t a tough sell.
According to Indonesia’s tourism minister, Sandiaga Uno:
The five-year remote working visa would allow freelancers to live on islands such as Bali tax-free, providing their earnings come from companies outside of Indonesia.
The country is looking to re-brand itself as more than just a brief vacation spot. Rather it hopes to attract more affluent people from around the world. There is nothing wrong with waiting out the massive inflation for a few years on the beaches of Bali.

Komodo National Park
The strike which paralyzed the Indonesian port city of Labuan Bajo and the entry point to the Komodo National Park has ended after the government, as of 4 August, keeps entrance fees unchanged. The dispute arose after the government imposed a huge $251 price hike for access to Komodo Island in order to limit the number of visitors and protect endangered Komodo dragons from overexposure to humans.
Locals dependent on the tourism business said the price hike would deter tourists with a limited budget from visiting and slash their income as the cause for the strike.

The World Loves Oysters!!
Get slurping on August 5th with National Oyster Day! Oysters are enjoyed as a seafood in many parts of the world.
Did you know there are over 100 different species of oysters? Interestingly, oysters tend to take on the characteristics of the water in which they live. Because of this, they’re typically named after the body of water in which they grow.
In France, one of the tastiest is those of Marennes-Oléron, a region of oyster production in Charente-Maritime. This oyster is salivating fans around the world but especially the Chinese. The French prefers a thick oyster with high salt content, unlike a Chinese consumer who prefers it bigger and less salty.
The Chesapeake Bay produces more oysters in the world than any other body of water. Large beds of edible oysters are also found in Japan and Australia. Oysters supply a high amount of vitamins B12 and A. Champagne and oysters are perfect together. Cheers!!
