Children & Youth Ministries Weekly Update

Celebrating Confirmation

WOW! Confirmation Sunday was such a beautiful day to celebrate and thank God for the work He has done within these students' lives. We got to confirm, anoint, baptize, and welcome these students into their adult faith. A celebration with Heaven it was!! When I look back on Sunday morning I feel humbled and honored that I get to know your students. Thank you to the families and the youth leaders that helped us Sunday.

Inclement Weather May Be Around the Corner

If we determine that the worship services are canceled due to winter weather conditions, we will update the homepage of the church website with a special announcement. We will also send out a push notification to our mobile app users and an email to those receiving the Columbia Weekly. All decisions will be made with safety in mind, and with as much notice as possible.

Lenten Devotional Submissions Wanted

All ages are invited to contribute to the CPC 2024 Lenten Prayer Devotional. Contributions should be prayerfully inspired and centered on the chosen scripture. You might write a prayer, a poem, or include a personal, relevant experience.  You could also submit a digital file of a drawing, photo, painting or other piece of artwork. There is no word limit or minimum. Last year we had contributions by children, youth and adults!

Click here to see the daily scripture chosen for this year’s devotional. You can sign up for a day and corresponding verse on the online form, or in person on Sunday. All contributions are due by January 29 to ensure enough time for editing and printing of the completed devotional booklets. Please email Viva Dennis with your submission. We pray each contribution is led by the Spirit and designed to bring us closer to each other and to Him during this sacred season of Lent.

First Communion Class

On January 21 we will offer a Communion Class led by Pastor Matt Overton and Tifny Mathena. This class is for any child (or adult!) that feels ready to partake in this sacrament and would like to have a greater understanding of what exactly communion is and why the sacrament matters! Snacks will be served, and parents are encouraged to attend! Register here.

Work Camp Auction Donations Needed

Last year’s Work Camp Auction was held in the church Fellowship Hall and Gym – and it was a huge success! We are very excited for the Auction to return to CPC on March 17, 2024, but for now we need your donations! Popular donations include: the use of vacation homes, unique experiences, gift cards or items purchased from local businesses, the donation of your unique talents and skills. Please complete a donation slip when you turn in your item(s) – they can be found on the Youth page of the website, in the church office and at the Welcome Center. Donations should be dropped off at the church office. Please no “rummage sale” items – donations should be new or like-new condition. If in doubt, please contact Amanda Stimmel regarding your donation.
