This prayer is from a sweet children’s book I found at the Grotto bookstore last spring.
The title alone made my heart ache a little, as I confess that God’s perfect peace is not something I always feel. But even still, we can believe with our whole hearts that this peace is real and meant for you and for me.
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you.” -Isaiah 26:3a
I pray for you, as you lie down to sleep,
That you will know you’re gently held
In our God’s perfect peace.
May God’s peace fall around you
Through the stillness of this night.
May God’s great peace enfold you
Until early morning’s light.
Don’t let your heart be troubled,
And do not be afraid.
God’s peace, just like your pillow,
So close to you is laid.
And if you wake up in the night,
You do not need to fear.
Remember, you are not alone…
The God of peace of here.
May God’s peace give you stillness,
May God’s peace keep you calm.
May God’s peace fill this very room,
And keep you from all harm.
Amen and Amen
