Children & Youth Ministries Weekly Update

PALM SUNDAY

While we look forward to Palm Sunday each year (the kids…the music…the procession…greenery waving through the air), know that we have not forgotten, even in the midst of celebration, where Jesus is heading.

We need the joy of this sacred Sunday; the fulfillment of a prophecy and the rejoicing welcome of the outsider King. These things are a balm and a reprieve from the solemness of the season.

But the rest of the story is also true. The majority of those celebrating the arrival of Jesus will disappear in the next few days. Who knows where they all will go? Maybe some get scared, maybe others never really cared in the first place and were simply caught up in the festivities. But either way, all those palm-waving people eventually seem to drop their greens and walk away.

Can’t you see it? A road that was once covered in lush, green palm branches, days later is nothing more than a dusty path laden with brown and withered branches.

Jesus knows what it is to walk that path, and perhaps most remarkable of all, He chose to walk it.

So if the season you are in is not one of waving palms, but instead withered branches, remember that He knows. He understands. He has been there.

We begin Holy Week this Sunday, remembering our King that road the path to Good Friday so that we can celebrate the greatest day in the history of the world on Easter Sunday.

A Big Thank You!

Thank you so much to the volunteers who made our spring Parents Night Out a wonderful night! Our youth and adult leaders spent the evening with over 50 kids! Parents told us what a blessing it was, and how perfectly timed.

Thank you, thank you!
