If you or your kids are visited at night or any other time by the Whatifs, like in the Shel Silverstein poem above, may we suggest:
-Writing another set of Whatifs and daydreaming about those for awhile! Whatif I succeed? Whatif I make a friend? Whatif I have fun? Whatif things turn out better than I plan? Whatif I can do it?
-Remember what is always certain and always true. Anxious feelings that take our eyes and hearts off of who God is and what He can do are not from Him. He does not send the pesky kind of Whatifs.
His love and presence are real and always. His help and wisdom are available endlessly. We can believe in His love and trust in His nearness.
So the next time the Whatifs strike, see them for what they are… and believe the God of the universe is bigger than any little Whatif could ever be. Easier said than done… but let’s try.
