Children & Youth Ministries Weekly Update

What a Gift

This past weekend we were blessed by the wisdom and words of Pastor Eric Toumieux and his wife, Heesuk. This duo came to us from Senegal, Africa to share their transformative story of a place called Beer Sheba. Stories of miracles, prayer, hardship and faith illustrated God’s work in turning 250 acres of dessert into a lush forest providing 300 people the Gospel message through jobs, security, food, education and medical care.

Not only did the Toumieuxs lead the conference all weekend, but they spent a substantial amount of time with the children of CPC. On their first day in America they toured Circle of Friends Preschool, the following day they spoke to the children of K2 and also the Middle School Youth Group. On their final day, they finished their trip by leading and praying with the High School youth on Sunday night.

They spoke of God’s faithfulness and power, His ability to create something out of nothing, and our job as stewards to care for what was created in our “Dad’s garden”. They told your children about the Holy Spirit, and that where He is there is fruitfulness. They were reminded of a God that deeply loves them, and invites them into a relationship with Him in a very physical way.

Holding the attention of elementary students is not easy, but they did. Answering the questions of middle schoolers is not simple, but they responded in thoughtful and creative ways. Praying over high schoolers in multiple languages is not the normal at CPC, but it was the finish to a powerful youth group, and will be remembered by the students for a very long time.

The couple commented on multiple occasions what a blessing it was to be surrounded by children and youth that are so confident, excited, warm and friendly.

Thank you to Eric and Heesuk for your time, wisdom and energy. Thank you for living a life of faithfulness and joy and sharing a bit of that with us.

We are truly grateful.

Thank you to the Children's Choir, led by Anna Haagenson and accompanied by flautist Heidi Kjos for leading us in our offertory at the 9:00AM worship service this past Sunday.

Each year, congregation members generously donate experiences, trips, and items to be auctioned off in both silent and live auctions. Would you consider donating something to help raise money to help our high school youth build homes for families coming out of poverty in Mexico?

2024 Summer Internships

Students that have completed 9th grade or higher are eligible to apply for a volunteer internship (approx. 20 hours/week) for Youth or Children’s Ministries. Students that have completed 10th grade or higher AND have served as a previous CPC Summer Intern or as a Core Leader in K2, Middle School Youth Group or High School Youth Group are eligible to apply for a paid internship (approx. 30 hours/week and various trips).

Interns in both Children’s and Youth Internships will spend each day as a large group sharing in devotionals, trainings and various activities. Interns will also have opportunities to spend time on projects specific to their area of ministry. The internship is 9 weeks. At this time, the internship will begin on Friday, June 14th and finish on Wednesday, August 14th. Beginning and ending dates may change depending on school calendars, but they will be set by the time of the interviews. When you come for your interviews, you will be provided with summer dates, and we will expect you to plan your summer dates according to that schedule.

In order to be considered for the internship, applications need to be completed by Sunday, March 3rd. We encourage you to discern through prayer and counsel if God is calling you to this opportunity of growth and service.

All interviews will be conducted in person with the Children and Youth Ministry Teams:

Sunday, March 10th (between 12:00-3:30pm)*

*Please let us know in your application if the above day does not work for you and we will try to accommodate another time.
