Our first Invasive Species ID & Removal Workshop
Thank you to all who joined us at our first workshop for invasive plant ID and removal! We learned why invasive species are a threat to us and our ecosystems, and how to identify and dispose of them, focusing on several species that are common at Riverside Park, including burning bush, honeysuckle, Japanese knotweed, and Japanese barberry. After some removing a section of these species, volunteers also planted a few native species in their place, including arrowwood viburnum, elderberry, spice bush, and bayberry!
And a special thanks to Andover's Conservation Land Manager, Michael Murray for helping us make this workshop possible!
Be on the lookout for our next one!
