You’ll Love this News!

We are rapidly approaching completion dates for both our Staff Housing and Crafts Barn! Staff will be moving in before you know it and it’s all thanks to your love and support.

Staff Housing

And just like that we have walls! Our hard-working construction crew is making tremendous progress on our two new Staff Housing buildings and are currently finishing out the beautiful interior spaces.

Both buildings are comprised of an upper and lower unit, each with two bedrooms, a kitchen and common area. They are bright, airy, welcoming spaces situated just off the main road on the edge of the forest. We are looking forward to a spring move in date!

Crafts Barn

We're also counting down the days for the completion of the newly renovated Crafts Barn! These five units share a wonderful communal space and include 2 baths and laundry room. This will be a much welcomed aaddition to our staff housing.

We're Spreading Love

All Over The Mountain

The lake at The Mountain provides the opportunity

recreation and environmental studies

It's going to be an exciting year full of new projects that will enhance The Mountain experience for everyone!

Dam Repair and Renovation

We are ready to move forward with our dam repair! Which is great news as our lake is integral for recreation and environmental studies. We currently have $200,000 on hand towards our the estimated construction cost of $600,000, with the majority of the funds due before construction begins. We've applied for a grant to help alleviate the cost and we thank everyone for contributing to our Capital Campaign to help make up the difference.

Projects At the Top of The Mountain

It's time to get to work at the top of The Mountain! Throughout the year, we will be working on much-needed upgrades, updates and renovations to the guest cabins, kitchen, and electrical systems. We will also begin Construction of our multi-purpose building to provide meeting space for all our programs as well as housing for our ASCENDER youth leadership program.

A Mountain Member Message

As a native Pennsylvanian who learned as a child how to hike up and down mountains, but who now lives in the Midlands of South Carolina, coming to The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center makes me feel that I have come home.

The natural, untamed beauty of the area is compounded by the camaraderie that just being here elicits between people. Strangers become instant friends; friends become family.

The maintenance and improvements done here are funded by grants and donations. Activities like the Capital Campaign are what keep this a sanctuary from the current craziness of the world. I am supporting the capital campaign and encourage everyone to make a contribution.

I look forward to our volunteer week and weekend retreat each year, and always feel a certain melancholy when we leave.
