Dear Rosa Coplon Living Center Residents, Family Members and Responsible Parties,

I write to you today with an optimistic visitation update. This week we learned of new visitation guidelines released by the Department of Health. As of Sep. 17, nursing homes in New York state that have been without COVID-19 for at least 14 days will be allowed to resume limited visitations. This means we can reopen Rosa Coplon for restricted visitation on Sep. 23 as long as we have no new positive COVID cases before then.

What Do I Need to Know?

  • This is a revision to the 28-day guidelines previously set by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
  • Visitors are required to present a verified negative COVID-19 test result within the last seven days. They must also undergo temperature checks, wear face coverings, and remain socially distant during the visit.
  • End-of-life and compassionate care visits are not subject to a verified negative test result, but are subject to all other COVID-19 screening requirements.
  • Only two visitors are allowed per resident at any one time.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.

To schedule your visit, please complete our online pre-appointment questionnaire required by the DOH each time you would like to visit. Once you submit the questionnaire, a staff member will call you to schedule your visit. Visiting hours by appointment are Monday - Friday, 9:30 -11:00 am and 1:30 - 3:00 pm. The visiting area is cleaned between visits and we thank you for following visitor protocols.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to accommodate your visitation requests. We understand how important it is to be connected with your loved ones.

Please remember that we are also still scheduling window visits and Skype calls when requested. We are happy to report that our Social Work and Activities departments have coordinated over 20 window visits this week to connect residents with their loved ones. You can reserve a time by contacting Julie Smith at [email protected].

We will continue following our infection prevention measures to ensure everyone’s health and safety on campus as we do our part to fight the virus.

Thanks again for your support. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
