NOW OPEN: The Beltway Snipers Online Exhibit
The National Law Enforcement Museum has opened the virtual doors to our new online exhibit, The Beltway Snipers. In this digital exhibit, the Museum invites you to explore all the aspects of the case now, 20 years after the events have occurred.
The “Timeline of Events” can be viewed chronologically, or you can jump from event to event in any order you choose. “Examining the Evidence” highlights the prominent pieces of evidence used to identify the snipers and explains how that evidence helped lead to their capture. “Trial and Conviction” briefly covers how law enforcement and the prosecution set up the sniper case for trial and the results of the main and subsequent trials. Lastly, “In Memoriam” remembers the snipers’ victims.

For his heroic demonstration of calm, focus, and resolve, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund is proud to recognize Deputy Sheriff Dijon Whyms as the August 2022 Officer of the Month.
Deputy Dijon Whyms initiated a traffic stop after receiving a call about a driver believed to be suffering from a mental crisis. As he approached the stopped vehicle, the driver immediately began firing numerous shots at Whyms, hitting him twice in his lower body and three times in his upper body.

A Message from Troy S. Anderson
Executive Director, Officer Safety and Wellness
On August 1, 2022, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund officially launched the Law Enforcement Ambassador Program. Supported by our Officer Safety and Wellness (OSW) team, the program was designed to forward our mission beyond the walls of the Memorial. The Ambassador Program seeks skilled volunteers who embody the standards and values of the NLEOMF. The program, generously supported by our corporate sponsor, MissionSquare Retirement, invites law enforcement professionals, active and retired, looking to further the mission of the Memorial, through education and philanthropy by helping to honor the fallen, tell the story of American Law Enforcement and make it safer for those that serve.
