Dear Matt:

The Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) will begin repair work on a water main just outside the Roseland Pumping Station tomorrow morning at 7:00am. A press release from the Department of Water Management can be found by clicking here.

The 48-inch water main was installed in 1916 and it serves more than 20,000 people in parts of Beverly, Morgan Park, Mount Greenwood and Auburn Gresham. The boundaries of which are north of 119th Street, south of 87th Street, east of Troy Street, west of I-57. A map of the potentially affected area is highlighted in orange and can be found here.

DWM engineers believe the repair work can be completed without a disruption in service or the issuance of a boil order. However, there is always a chance that the situation could change once the work begins. In the event of a boil order, you can find instructions by clicking here.

I'd like to thank the Department of Water Management for their efforts to address this issue before it becomes a critical situation. I'd also like to thank the residents and businesses who will be impacted by this issue for their ongoing patience. I will provide an update to the community when more information is available.

Sincerely,

Matthew J. O'Shea
