Rosenberg Animal Control and Shelter Maintained No-Kill Status in 2024

More than 90% of the Dogs and Cats That Entered the Shelter Last Year Were Saved

The city of Rosenberg is proud to announce that the Rosenberg Animal Control and Shelter (RACS) maintained its no-kill status for the 2024 year, according to Best Friends Animal Society’s annual data report. This means RACS saved 90% or more of the dogs and cats that entered the shelter last year.

A 90 percent save rate is the nationally recognized benchmark to be considered “no-kill,” factoring that approximately 10 percent of pets who enter shelters have medical or behavioral circumstances that warrant humane euthanasia.

"Achieving no-kill status for all of 2024 is a tremendous milestone for our team, our volunteers, and most importantly, the animals in our care. It reflects our unwavering commitment to saving lives and building a compassionate community where every animal is given a chance. We’re incredibly proud of this accomplishment and grateful for the continued support from our residents and rescue partners,” said Omar Polio, Animal Control and Shelter Director.
