Effective Jan. 25, 2024, the city of Rosenberg rescinded the Stage One Voluntary Water Conservation Plan, issued on Thursday, July 27, 2023. The City implemented the Drought Contingency Plan due to an observed drop in annual rainfall amounts, higher-than-normal daily temperatures and increased water demand.
Several factors allowed the City to return to normal use, including the beneficial rains over the last few weeks and the demand for water returning to normal levels.
Even though stage one of the plan was rescinded, it is always a good idea to continue best practices and environmentally responsible efforts to prevent water loss inside and outside homes. Simple indoor tasks such as checking for water leaks can save upwards of 2,000 gallons per year. Simple outdoor tasks such as irrigating your lawn only when the soil is dry, instead of on a regular schedule, not only save you money on your water bill but also allow grass roots to grow deeper, resulting in a more drought-tolerant lawn. Conserving water now helps ensure ample water resources for us today and our future Rosenberg residents.
